I wonder why ppl constantly question Mariah’s blackness and not Alicia Keys, who’s also mixed. It’s amazing to me. EDIT: I wasn’t interested in starting debates about the one drop rule or who her parents were. All I can tell y’all is Mimi was born of a black man and due to her mother being white, she received treatment from many ppl that is based in the cancer of racism and it may have been doubly bad for her cause she was the product of interracial marriage. Yes, Sony once tried to hide her race and market her as a new Teena Marie (a white woman with a black voice) and she may be treated differently due to colorism and how she can pass for a white woman but either way, that is a black woman. It is a part of who she is and I will treat her and see her as such.
@dl26762 жыл бұрын
Because people can tell Alicia K is biracial/black. Even Halle B and Paula P has said that society views them as black based on their appearance. Halsey who is mix said she can't relate because she can pass for white and is viewed differently by society. Many if not knowing would consider Mariah white. She came out when I was little and I thought she was all white until she said something. I'm biracial also, people get my ethnicity wrong sometimes with being latino, etc but they can tell I am ethnic

Mariah is not biracial she is actually a quadroon, her father was already mixed with Native Spanish and Black. That's why Mariah so white
@VickStarkiller2 жыл бұрын
@@dl2676 well you and her are still black so whatever
@dl26762 жыл бұрын
@@VickStarkiller , I didn't say I wasn't black or dont considered myself black, but wanted to answer question about Alicia Keyes. People judge what they see and they like to put people into categories (not saying it's right), if people look at Alicia Keyes and see that she is definitely mix with black then people aren't going to have to question her blackness, if they look at someone who is mix but that person can pass for white then it's a different story, it's not saying they aren't biracial but people may not know at first unless that person says something. If Paula Patton or Halle get pulled over by a cop, the results may be different than if Halsey who is mix and looks white gets pulled over. If you are biracial and look mix or black then you are also faced with stereotypes, judgments, racism, etc.

Mariah always looked black to me and I am from long island. She reminded of Coco from Fame the movie. Irene Cara.

She looks very mixed sorry
@akx80402 жыл бұрын
@@76shian Yes. Born in long island just like her. Also grew up in Georgia. Your perspective is limited to what black is. Mixed is still black. That's a rule of America History
@76shian2 жыл бұрын
@@akx8040 lies ,pure lies, Mariah live in Westchester County, long Island and Manhattan. She also live on a boat in the Hudson River for a while. IRENE CARA looks nothing like Mariah. Ireen Cara is from the Bronx dummy.

@@76shian Facts facts facts. Place of birth of Mariah is Huntington. A town of Long island. She also went to different schools and moved around in Long island until 18. I was born in Long island. If you are smart and know how to use KZbin you should know how to use Google. A six year old can do that. Irene Cara has a mixed background and was in Fame. Debbie Allen was amazing actress and dancer on Fame. Later Debbie Allen choreographed one of Mariah's tour. Obviously the connection is clear. You need imagination to see it. Prove that I am wrong. Peace

Even though Teena Marie sang old school songs, and got her inspiration from African Americans who taught her, and Rick James helped her too. But when she sing, I can still tell she was white. Some vocals she just could not hit like a black woman. Who really sounds black, and more black than Teena Marie, and you will never know she is white if you don’t see her, is that young lady Josh Stone. She has been taught by blacks definitely. When she speaks she has a British accent big time.

I agree. Tina Marie sounds white to me. Joss Stone hits.
