The face of General Colt when he realize that even the gravediggers are there is priceless. 😂

"move away, move away, go do something else..." Such an understated not-good comment from an officer to his radioman, but still very funny. I love this whole scene. And then the guy with the tray of coffee and cakes.....that always makes me laugh. I love this movie.

My favourite scene… “Your the guys who are supposed to be fighting this war and you don’t know where in the hell it is.” “Well I’ll tell you where it is, it’s 30 mines behind where you thought it was!” “Common now! Let’s get this army of mine back in the war!”

Any time this movie was on I would stop everything to watch it just for this scene. I would laugh with tears in my eyes thinking about my days in the military. Thank you for the memory and making me laugh...

To me, this damages the film. I know it was relevant when the film came out, but today, it's just hugely jarring to me. This film could have been a fantastic story in its own right. There was no need to laden it with hippie-talk.

@@stevensheldon9271 i disagree .. we are not talking about a realistic movie here that is based on a true event .. its a comedy .. and oddball with all due respect is an iconic character in the movie played to a perfection by donald suttherland ... now why dont you knock it off with those negative waves Steven :)

Carroll O'Connor auditioned for the role of the Skipper on Gilligan's Island about 8 years earlier They wanted to cast someone who could yell be angry but loving (comically). Apparently Carroll's take was too angry and the search led to Alan Hale Jr. I feel this role in KH was probably the closest you could imagine Carroll as Jonas Grumby, interacting with Willy Gilligan.

The way Alan Hale Jr. used to look at the camera when he was dealing with Gilligan. -"You see what I have to put up with?"
