Kelly made that so enjoyable to watch. Really comes off as a fun guy to be around. Kelly was right, he doesn't want to come off like Ali "I AM THE GREATEST!" But that is who he is! He's the greatest of all time. It wasn't that long ago that people in the surfing world were saying "Kelly needs to retire to give other people a chance" At 45 he's still got days when he's the best.

Here's some questions with more 'thought': 1. Has your surfing style changed from 1992? 2. Do you think you would have won more contests if Andy wasn't in picture? 3. Were judges giving you higher scores vs Taj at Trestles in 2008? 4. Was the loss to AI in 2003 at Pipe...last contest of year your worst loss? 5. Do you think AI was robbed in 2005 bells contest? 6. No Californian has been champ since '90(Curren) why is that? 7. Do You see a shift in less Surfer mag circulation and more on KZbin content related to surfing or Pros with their own content(ex/ JOB), Insta, digital, etc? 8. How has your board shapes/dimensions changed through the years? If it has changed, is it related to age, weight, style? 9. When the waves are small, choppy and shitty at a beach break what are you looking for? consistent breaking peak? biggest wave of competition? amount moves to pack in a ride?

Trust me, Dan..Michael Jordan is the Kelly Slater of Basketball!!! And that’s no diss of MJ, but an appreciation that what Kelly Slater does can END YOUR LIFE. When you consider 15-40’ waves, jagged rock formations that can pumpkin your skull or break your ribs..and you still need to breathe?!!! Dan, you came off a bit of a grommet. I’m disappointed you didn’t prepare. BTW, KS wrote a pretty good autobio..”Pipe Dreams,” that demonstrated a young man who actually evolved as positively with his life as he did his craft.
