Barkley was playing out of his mind both in the '92 Olympics and the entire '93 season. Non-stop beast mode. But also, he's right he should have gotten MVP in '89. Magic won only because certain people of the media didn't like Chuck's attitude (which is why they left him off their ballots entirely).
@Riles31522 ай бұрын
@@JakeStine Jordan won the MVP in 88. I’m 99% sure he’s talking about the 89-90 season., when Chuck was probably at the absolute peak of his playing ability. Magic won the MVP that year, probably because it was their first year without Kareem and they finished with the best record in the league that year. Chuck, however, led the 76ers to 53 wins with literally no other star on the team. He was actually a better individual player that season than he was in 93, but he had better players around him on the 93 Suns.

Dan Patrick shutup about giving incentives to NBA players for doing their jobs! Any NBA player who isn't certified as injured by a medical doctor should be playing in every game, period. If they refuse to play when not injured then the NBA should fine them $1 million for every game they miss. Each million then goes directly to a local food bank in the city where the team is located. I bet you players would be doing their jobs if they were at risk of lossing their money. No incentives, it's time for penalties.

I am glad Dan is starting to realize the NBA hasn't been fun to watch lately. The MLB Postseason blew by the NBA Playoff ratings, and rightfully so. MLB has been correcting their issues. NBA is doubling down on three point shootfest, constant blowouts, and starters not wanting to play until April. And the NBA is abandoning TNT which is better than the Mothership. Especially with their pre-game/talk show. That said, I always enjoy Wilbon on ESPN.

3-point line is a fixable problem that will eventually need to be addressed. The math is undeniable and shooter’s are only going to continue getting better. Maybe we should rethink the assumption that the game is more physical. When I watch games from the 90s, I get the opposite impression. Maybe it was more physical in the narrow sense that there were more flagrant fouls that were called common fouls, but that's not the kind of physicality that causes wear and tear injuries to knee ligaments and Achilles tendons. It's the more abrupt changes of direction, the Eurosteps, the deceleration, etc., that's causing injuries and necessitating load management.

Incentivize players to play? Dan you’re tripping. These players already make a lot of money to play. If anything, their contracts should have a clause stating we will pay you this much IF you play minimum Xminutes in 82 games (sans injuries). 80s & 90s, when a game is obviously gonna be won, the coach will sit star players to rest, they don’t stay in the game to pad their stats.. But, if the opponents are showing a come back, coach will put the star players back to ensure a win.
