Before NARS Orgasm color blush, there weren't any peachy-pink gold shimmer blushes. Everyone stuck to pinks, mauves, with the rare peach thrown in. And now just about every major makeup company has a peachy-pink gold shimmer blush. So it's not just a loved item, but also highly influential. My personal definition of "classic" is something that's still around & has about the same formula for about 20 years or more, like NARS blush in Orgasm or Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey.
@20thcenturyrelicАй бұрын
I bought a travel size of Orgasm to see what the big deal is, and frankly, I was underwhelmed. It's OK. It's a little bright for my taste, and maybe a bit shiny. I have to admit that it's a great universal color though. I didn't like it enough to buy a full size.
@jordanblankjordanblank4603Ай бұрын
I loved the nail polish. I thought the blush looked good on me, because corals and peaches are my super power, but the nail polish was truly a favorite, and it was so short lived.

BareMinerals was my go-to in high school and through college! Their "starter kit" was a MUST!!
@TheBureaucromancerАй бұрын
I love this sponsorship for you!! I bought a Bare Minerals starter kit 16 years ago as a pick-me-up after a rough pregnancy and being stuck at home in that uuuuuuugh new mother phase where you feel like you just lost yourself. It had the classic base (yes, I’m old enough to remember the infomercials: swiiiiiirl, tap!, and buff buff buff!), and sample sizes of the mineral veil, the sunkissed bronzer, and the blush. When I say that set saved me, I’m not kidding. Thanks to perimenopause, my skin is just too dry for anything but an oil-based foundation now, but please give that foundation my love and tell her I miss her everyday! 😢
@ac2055Ай бұрын
I don't know if this would work for u, but I noticed my skin has gotten drier too over the years. However, now I finish my Bare Minerals with a moisturizing face mist (not an alcohol based setting spray) and fan the excess off w a hand fan. The face mist turns my BM powder foundation into feeling like a liquid foundation and melts it into a smoother, dewier finish while also giving moisture back to my skin.
@susier6743Ай бұрын
I'm starting to head back to classic products and products I know I'll use. All these superviral products don't last long and there's another one on the market. It feels so overwhelming that I'd rather go back to classic products and what I like.

Thank you for this reminder. I go through periods where I do really well just loving the many many products I already own (which I've already curated over time, so everything performs great), but then I get caught in the marketing hype of a viral product and I go off into a shopping spiral. My current hyperfixation is baked blushes, kickstarted by seeing the kosas blushes everywhere. Anyway target aside.....I would LOVE a video series on the flipside of this topic. Revisiting viral products by year and seeing if they still live up to the hype. I appreciate this might be a logistical nightmare for you since you don't hold on to lots of products!

I always come back to dipbrow, whether I want to or not! The biggest reason is that it’s just soooo economical when you think about cost per use compared to similarly prestige brow pencils. I can’t justify going through a $25+ pencil every three weeks or so when one pot of dipbrow lasts me over a year. Plus, I only use it for my brow tails which pencils have a hard time with showing up and staying on for me. I agree with you that it’s just a great product that actually can be used to create any look depending on application technique.

I started using the Sensai 38° Mascara about 20 years ago (launched 1998). It was one of the first tubing mascaras on the market and much hyped when it came out. I'm still using it, or rather the volumising version that is some years "younger" than the original. Urban Decay Primer Potion came out sometime in the 00's and still holds its own. The packaging has gone through several changes but the product itself is much the same. It's still my go-to eye primer and I think quite a few people feel the same even if it's not talked about that much. Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation launched with much hype some six years ago. I got onboard and never left. It's the only foundations I've found that works on my parched dry skin without half an hour of skin prep. Plus they have my colour -fair with olive undertones- which is not common. I guess it's not old enough to be a classic yet but it will be. At least for me. 😂
@jbridges9574Ай бұрын
I’m old enough that I remember when so many of these brands launched or went mainstream (before the internet). NARS blushes, period. They’ve made a wide shade range that works on all skin tones since they launched. The thing I remember most about the Orgasm launch was how spicy it was considered that it was called “Orgasm. MAC foundations for the same reasons- widely available, huge shade range, major advancement in formula quality. They’re still really popular with makeup pros. Benefit Hoola- it was the first non-orange bronzer and that worked on my fair skin. Benefit or ABH for brows. When ABH launched it was harder to find except in major markets.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lip liner and lipstick years later remain in my favourites, along with the Pillow Talk eyeshadow quad (-all used up and replaced). PT is my only “warm” option. CT Bronze and Glow is another keeper I used up and replaced- as bronzer and easy eyeshadow both. Hourglass Arch brow pencil, Hourglass eye primer and WetnWild Brûlée. Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 is always in my collection- repurchased 3x! It’s still the best cool toned easy mini palette although I also enjoy Natasha Denona INAN & Mini Dream. Merit The Minimalist has replaced my other base products. Love it along with their cream bronzer, blush and lipstick.

Bare minerals lip glosses (maybe lip oils? Idk, same same) are so beautiful. I burned through 2 of them (different shades) last year and had completely forgotten how much I loved them. Next time I’m in the market for that type of product (currently using nars glosses, love them too, they’re just different), I’ll probably pick one up again. Edit: just looked it up on Sephora to see what it was called and most of the shades are gone, including my favorites, and it looks like it’s being discontinued. Which is sad.

You’re line is so good to prevent acne and the coverage lasts all day’

My old one is still as pigmented and wonderful as it was when I first got it. P.S. I don't use it anymore, also has hit pan of course but still has a bit. I'm keeping it for the sentiment, ahaha.

You have some great choices there. I have many of them. I’m with you on the multiples - if I really like a product I’ll get all the shades I like!❤

Surprised we didn't go over products like Armani luminous silk or the Nars concealer. Definitely can't disagree with you over Space Cowboy though, I've been wearing it almost every day recently 🤭

my cult classics: maybelline's colossal mascara & rare beauty's liquid blush. these two have never failed me and never will. i'm always trying out new foundations, concealers and powders, but these two products are just not gonna change for me. maybelline is my ride or die, honestly. i've been wearing it since before high school. RB's liquid blush is the only blush i've used that lasts on my oily skin. i have lost interest in other blushes, genuinely.
