Kelly, Track Enhancing!!!! Oh my word. I am floored! This should be the first step in every cutting tutorial! I am preparing to cut vinyl for a friend's matchy matchy family t-shirts (eight in all) and have been procrastinating because it would be easiest and least wasteful to cut all at once, but I was worried about the vinyl "shooting off," as you say. This is a game changer!

I am relatively new to vinyl cutting. I have never cut without a mat. I have watched many videos because I would rather learn from others' mistakes and save time/money in the long run. I have yet to comment on anyone else's videos, but wanted to stop by to tell you 1. your cat is precious and 2. this is a fantastic video. I love that you actually SHOWED the problems instead of simply talking about them. I found this to be very informative and I feel more confident going into my extensive wedding project now. Thanks so much for this video! I have a new problem. My lever for the roller/release bar is not working to lift the bar properly. Have you had this issue? I will be reaching out to Silhouette as well.

I havent unfortunately, you might have more luck taking it to a service centre, im not sure how quick Silhouette are to respond

Assuming that everything is loaded properly, do you get the same cut results without the mat as you do with the mat or do you recommend one method over the other to get a better cut?

I havent tested that, but i would imagine it would be very comparable, If you are doing super intricate things, doing them on a mat might yield better results if you arent paying super close attention to how your vinyl is loading without a mat

I'm cutting out medium sized letter sentences but the machine is cutting some perfectly fine but also skipping alot of letters what does this mean? I'm not using a mat and everything else is how you suggested

Whenever I insert my vinyl into the cricut, it grabs the paper in unevenly, do you know why this happens and what I could do? It still cuts perfectly but I just want to know If I am doing something wrong. I am not using a mat by the way. I appreciate your help.

Unfortuately its just about lining it up on the left hand side as good as you can, its tricky for sure!

Hmm, what kind of pressure of you cutting with? perhaps the pressure is too high? I have seen that before, and its usually relating to pressure (If I understand what you mean)

The roller aren't rolling properly and the vinyl is not moving like it should. I have never had this problem after using the Silouette Cameo 3 for years. Any ideas? I'm thinking I may have messed up the settings or something when I tried to use puff vinyl for the first time.

Could you have used something long term that stretched your rollers out a bit? Perhaps they are no longer able to grip the material properly

it seems like no one else online or on youtube has issues with the CUTTING part of cutting without a mat. I can cut fine with a mat, but none of my test cuts work once I remove the mat. i can keep increasing depth and force on the blade but it just doesn't get a proper cut. My page settings are set to no mat as well. it doesnt seem like anyone is having this problem.
