So many kids in my little hometown dream of leaving and can't wait to get out. I left and saw the world, and realized that no matter how amazing other places can be, there truly is no place on earth that can replace HOME. Took me almost 17 years to find my way back to where I belong-- here, in MY place, among MY people. I feel for those who don't ever figure out the things that truly matter, like figuring out the people and places that are TRULY important in life.

I heard this song on the radio and freaked out like "Oh my gosh! Cause I'm from Tennessee. Every time she gets to Knoxville I always say Crossville cause that's my hometown. I'm gonna be far away from here in not so long. I'll be clear across the country out west, following the rodeo circuit and working for a ranch of my own. But I know a little piece of me will always be good old Crossville. My hometown. All I wanna do is make everyone who knows me proud. It's gonna be hard to just leave after eighteen whole years but I need this, I can't let fear of the unknown or heisitation keep me from doing what God made me to do. That one verse is so true "Backwoods raise us Highways, they take us Memories, make us" That's pretty much my whole life story.☺

My hometown is York PA. Was born in Columbus Mississippi. I still live in York after 18 years. I am 21 now. Quaint blue collar town with a hood-like city flair in the southernmost part of Pennsylvania. Many people I graduated with wants to continue living here. Everyone still talks about high school. Orange and black, go Panthers! 🧡🐈⬛🖤This song encourages me to keep at what Im doing as it will eventually lead to me achieving my dream of becoming a teacher. Where I’ll be going to community college in my town, transferring to my dream college in South Carolina and moving there, on my way to getting my master’s degree in early education and becoming a teacher! Wearing garnet and black, go Gamecocks! ❤🐓🖤 I’ll always remember York PA, the town where my journey began. Part of me will always be part of my hometown.

I’m really happy that my hometown of Knoxville, TN was featured in a country music video/song. Knoxville is the least referenced big city in Tennessee. You very rarely hear Knoxville mentioned in a country song. Memphis and obviously Nashville are larger than Knoxville. But even smaller places like Chattanooga and the Tri-Cities are mentioned more often in Tennessee. This is significant because Knoxville and East Tennessee has made a major influence on the genre since the beginning in the early 1920s. In fact, if Knoxville wasn’t located in the bottom of a valley and/or had stronger radio antennas, Knoxville would be the home of country music and have the name Music City, USA instead of Nashville.

*Lyrics: Kelsea Ballerini - half of my hometown (feat. Kenny Chesney* [Verse 1] Half of my high school got too drunk Half of my high school fell in love With the girl next door In their daddy's Ford Half of my main street's mini skirts Half of my main street's dressed for church It could use some rain And a fresh coat of paint [Chorus] Half of my hometown's still hangin' around Still talkin' about that one touchdown They're still wearin' red and black Go Bobcats, while the other half Of my hometown, they all got out Some went north, some went south Still lookin' for a feelin' half of us ain't found So stay or leave, part of me will always be Half of my hometown [Verse 2] Half of our prom queens cut their hair Half of them think that it ain't fair The quarterback moved away and never came back Half of my family is happy I left The other half worries I'll just forget Where I came from Same place where they came from [Chorus] Half of my hometown's still hangin' around Still talkin' about that one touchdown They're still wearin' red and black Go Bobcats, while the other half Of my hometown, they all got out Some went north, some went south Still lookin' for a feelin' half of us ain't found So stay or leave, part of me will always be Half of my hometown Half of my hometown [Bridge] Backroads raise us Highways they take us Memories make us wanna go back [Chorus] To our hometown, settle down Talk about that one touchdown Raise some kids in red and black Go Bobcats, while the other half Of my hometown was in the crowd They knew the words, they sang them loud And all I wanna do is make them proud Cause half of me will always be Knoxville, Tennessee My hometown My hometown Songwriters: Kelsea Ballerini, Jimmy Robbins, Nicolle Galyon, Ross Copperman, and Shane McAnally

I miss everyone when a time machine is invented the first place I’m going is to live a day of highschool with all of them again. When I was in highschool I was told nobody wants to say they’re from my county because of intelligence. I wanna make them proud and be able to say I am from my hometown. When I listen to this, I'm reminded of my high school and how I miss the carefreeness of not worrying about getting a job and moving out. Thanks to COVID, some of my college friend group graduated, some are still in school. Out of all those I consider a friend, I don't know how many I'll still be in contact with 5 years from now. And I feel nostalgic for my easier high school and early college days, back before I was worried about moving out and getting a full time job and paying all bills and such

I grew up in a VERY small town, I moved there when I was 2, and I moved away when I was 8, I'm 14 now and I already have plans to move there when I'm 18. The town is so small that barely anyone knows of it, it's called Truth or consequences it's one hour and 15 minutes away from Socorro, and yes it's in New Mexico 'land of entrapment' as we call it, but I call it home, because that's where I had all of my good memories. I went back when I visited my grandfather in Socorro and my childhood home looks so different and it made me feel so happy yet so sad to see it, it honestly looked like shit, it had people living in it but only the building its self looked the same but the outside was absolutely trashed. I got a huge wave of nostalgia when I saw it, the home I grew up in didn't have it's magical feeling any more. We used to have horses in the pens infront of the house but when we visited it they had piles of garbage in them. The place where my moms dog was chained up was occupied by a trampoline, there was also a new trailer home infront of the biggest pen. The old rodeo was empty, the security guy was nice and told us what happened after we told him that my grandfather used to be the owner. The security guard said that everyone stopped coming because no one wanted to become the new owner and set up the rodeo, so everyone just forgot it was even there. I remember running in the mud out there and playing hide and seek with my brother and uncle in the stands. I also remember all the rodeos, even the live broadcast of me going in the wrong direction in the gymkhana stick horse barrel races. I remember the parades every veterans day and fourth of July, everyone in town would gather on Broadway, old military vehicles with children climbing up in them, my uncle and my grandfather doing the dancing horses, police on motorcycles. Basically a lot of laughing and happiness. I have more memories like me and my siblings going to the same schools as my mom. Me and my older brother in the same elementary school as mom did, my sister Amy in the same middle school as mom did, and my oldest brother Tony going to the same highschool as mom did. Now my brother Tony has a son and a wife, my sister is in Mexico doing her own thing with her boyfriend, my brother has a girlfriend and is working on getting into the coast guard, while I'm all the way in Alabama with my mom.

I'm just over here trying to figure out why there's 205 "Dislikes" on this song. Gotta be people who aren't fans of either one of these artists. I don't see how that would even be possible though. They're awesome! Great collaboration. Hope KC brings Kelsea out on his 2022 tour!

I grew up in Colorado from 10 years old, but born and raised in Oklahoma, so the only thing I knew was there until I moved last year back to Oklahoma, so some days I really miss Colorado. It was what I considered my hometown. Now I get really homesick and wish I was back in Colorado.

If a voice is chisen without seeing its appearance, would it be any less appreciated, valued, or adored? A voice is a gift that may be drapes a million different ways, but only those who appreciate its worth will experience its value! ❤️
