I love portrait art, there's something special about a face... The face is the mirror of the mind, the eyes of people reflect the desires of their heart... I guess life is a reflection of what we allow ourselves to see... eyes are very similar to paintings in that regard, eyes often times say more then words can... if you can say it in words there's no need to paint it... Ps: Diamonds are just pieces of charcoal and graphite that handled stress extremely well. It seems to me that every drawing always has that diamond potential just waiting to be created over time. Patience is key. Loved this work by David.

This method gives you your base tone from which you add highlights and shadows, same technique can be applied to digital illustration.. it’s a common practice in art schools.

The drawing is amazing but I'd also like to point out that the model has such a great face. I am an aspiring portrait artist - key word being aspiring - and you always look for great faces with unique features and sharp lines because they make great shadows and light areas. Great artists are nothing without great subjects.

Amazing. I've just bought some grey paper as I feel it saves so much time. No need to build up so much of a base with the grey as you have to with white paper. I've got all the materials on the list so I'm going to have a try and see if I can push my realism further x
