Absolutely love this video. We are doing the same thing on our fireplace wall. We only have room for one Billy bookcase on each side. We frameed them in. Then we built a new wall above the fireplace that is even with the bookcases. I did a vertical ship lap on that new wall where the TV will go. Everything is done except for painting and a few trim pieces. I loved what you did!

Wow! Beautiful! I have a question about the cords and how you access them to change out the TV. Do you need to remove the fireplace? I couldn't figure out how you reached in there to plug in the fireplace and tv 😁
@KelseyRomitoDIY
@KelseyRomitoDIY 2 жыл бұрын
I really wish I would have included this in the video. I left a hole behind the tv and shiplap. I also cut holes in the side of the cabinets that touched the shiplap. I had wall outlets behind the cabinets that I accessed by cutting additional holes in the back of the cabinets. So the tv cord goes behind the shiplap. It runs down then comes out of the side and plugs in a wall outlet behind the cabinet doors. So you never see any wires. Hope this makes sense.

The Billy bookcases are so great, I just bought a few (Was difficult to get them) and made over my MB closet. I LOVE the built in idea and you did it all by yourself - you are awesome. I really like your channel, just found you 2 weeks ago and am watching your older videos along with your new ones.

Awesome work. What paint color did you use to match?
@KelseyRomitoDIY
@KelseyRomitoDIY 2 жыл бұрын
I started with chantilly lace and slowly added white dove until it was as warm as the ikea units. Both colors are Benjamin Moore but I had them color matched at sherwin williams.

Hi Kelsey, this is some great work. How did you hide the shelve holes on the inside?
@KelseyRomitoDIY
@KelseyRomitoDIY 2 жыл бұрын
They aren’t really hidden. I filled them with a little bit of caulk to make them less noticeable but still be able to find them if I do want to adjust the shelves.

This is awesome! I want to do something like this for my parents. Quick question...did you leave the hole open behind the TV, and if so, why? Also, you covered up where the shelves joined to make it look custom but you forgot to do it at the bottom.
@KelseyRomitoDIY
@KelseyRomitoDIY 2 жыл бұрын
I left the hole open behind the tv just in case we need to access that area for any reason. I didn’t forget to cover the seams at the bottom. I hadn’t installed our new floors yet so I wanted to wait until the new floors were in. They have trim over them now.

Hi Kelsey - we are doing a similar hack with Hemnes bookcases - what colour of paint did you use for the trim pieces?
@KelseyRomitoDIY
@KelseyRomitoDIY 2 жыл бұрын
I wish I could tell you a specific paint color. None of the ones people recommended matched perfectly. I had a bunch of samples left over from the living room makeover. I started with a super neutral white base like chantilly lace then gradually added warmer whites like simply white until I got a good match.

Young lady you are awesome. Question, how do you access the electrical outlet
@KelseyRomitoDIY
@KelseyRomitoDIY 2 жыл бұрын
