Absolutely love this video. We are doing the same thing on our fireplace wall. We only have room for one Billy bookcase on each side. We frameed them in. Then we built a new wall above the fireplace that is even with the bookcases. I did a vertical ship lap on that new wall where the TV will go. Everything is done except for painting and a few trim pieces. I loved what you did!

Wow! Beautiful! I have a question about the cords and how you access them to change out the TV. Do you need to remove the fireplace? I couldn't figure out how you reached in there to plug in the fireplace and tv 😁
@KelseyRomitoDIY2 жыл бұрын
I really wish I would have included this in the video. I left a hole behind the tv and shiplap. I also cut holes in the side of the cabinets that touched the shiplap. I had wall outlets behind the cabinets that I accessed by cutting additional holes in the back of the cabinets. So the tv cord goes behind the shiplap. It runs down then comes out of the side and plugs in a wall outlet behind the cabinet doors. So you never see any wires. Hope this makes sense.

There are outlets on either side inside the cabinets (the outlets were already there- I just cut holes in the back of cabinet to access them). The wires run down behind tv and fireplace. Thanks just updated the link. The doors are oxberg doors from ikea. www.ikea.com/us/en/p/oxberg-door-white-50275596/

Hi Kelsey - we are doing a similar hack with Hemnes bookcases - what colour of paint did you use for the trim pieces?
@KelseyRomitoDIY2 жыл бұрын
I wish I could tell you a specific paint color. None of the ones people recommended matched perfectly. I had a bunch of samples left over from the living room makeover. I started with a super neutral white base like chantilly lace then gradually added warmer whites like simply white until I got a good match.

Do you have to remove the flooring to install built ins? I have vinyl planks and have no idea how to make that work
@KelseyRomitoDIY Жыл бұрын
No I don’t think so. I wouldn’t do it over carpet though because it would be uneven.

Young lady you are awesome. Question, how do you access the electrical outlet
@KelseyRomitoDIY2 жыл бұрын

Thanks! The trim is primed lattice. It’s from lowes.

What size tv do you have? What size fireplace and what’s the width of the overall fireplace space
@KelseyRomitoDIY2 жыл бұрын
The tv is either 60” or 65”. The width of the fireplace/shiplap area is 5.5 feet. The link for the fireplace I used is in the description.
