What an odd statement. Why would American players need to understand the "mindset" of Europlayers at all or even versus anyone else? The objective is to lace up and hoop, much like you would anywhere else. Respect is a given of course, but what does the mindset of Europlayers have to do with it? Besides, the names I heard for the most part where decidedly not Euro: "Diallo" "James" "Okogo" etc... the teams are overrun with faded players from outside. And what exactly is the "pureness" of the art form? Some people just say anything.

My home team, Barcelona, has players from all over Europe (Spanish, Czech, Lithuanian, German, Serbian and three non-Europeans (that is the max each team can have) so no, teams are not overrun with faded players from outside. It is true that Europeans cannot match the skillset and physicality of the top NBA players but in Europe you see a couple of things that the NBA seems to have lost for good: proper defense every single game, ball movement and fundamentals. Knee injuries.....last was on the Knicks and Thibs pulled him out of the rotation. I knew his days were numbered because without his quickness he's a shell of his former self. He's a small guard who not known for his D. NBA always leans young so vets have to go overseas if they want to get consistent playing time. More of them are overseas because IMO the competition has gotten better and the fight for roster spots are REAL.
