Ken Bruce has said he will still look back fondly on his time at BBC Radio 2 despite the broadcaster asking him to leave earlier than he initially expected.
The 72-year-old Scottish presenter signed off from his final mid-morning programme on Friday which he has hosted for more than 30 years.
Bruce had a few weeks remaining on his contract with the corporation but his final show was brought forward by the BBC before he moves to Bauer’s Greatest Hits Radio in April.

@@cactusthomas914 Kind of done with radio in general these days.Even sold my prize Bose soundwave radio on the grounds of there being nothing worth tuning into as with tv which went 15 years earlier for the same reasons .The 10 glorious Wogan,Kennedy,Bruce,Lester and Walker years on Drivetime are i think the high watermark years of radio for me personally .I hate the idea of endless regurgitated classics and,perpetual advertising assailing my ears and sensibilities,so sadly for me it's either my own mp3 compilations or Trappist FM-RADIO OFF. maybe i'll dip into their breakfast show with Marcel Marceau,i hear he's very good.?

My god it’s like a part of my life has come to an end . . . I’m now retired but when I was working Ken was a big part of keeping me sane everyday and it was so comforting to hear Ken’s dulcet tones for so many years on Radio 2. Nobody will be able to replace this legend and I for one wish Ken the very best in his future career wherever he goes and thanks for your many years of service . . god bless you.

Far too many adverts flicked between them both today . Its a far older playlist whole families wont listen unlike radio2, l think Vernon Kay do just fine once dust settles he was very good on radio x few years ago. Things have to always change although Ken a great DJ and lm sure some will dip over to Greatest hits for him.

So long , Ken; the end of an era. I'll miss his laid back style and occasionally subversive humour. I like how at the beginning of this morning's show Ken was at pains to point out that there were "no hidden messages or agendas today, so don't go looking for any!" An obvious reference to the first song he played after his announcement a few weeks ago. (Don't You Want Me Baby) Maybe it was code for "DO look for hidden references"....?

He did play stuff from the 60s, 70s, 80s as well, but I strongly suspect the BBC wants to make R2, a kiddies next step from Radio 1. Just listen to the mainly dross played and crap gossipy chit chat by the awful afternoon dj Scott M. It is now similar to a Radio 1 format
