Yoyoka is the ultimate Goldilocks drummer ,~ not too hot and not too cold always just right! Her mastery of dynamics and her ability to LISTEN to her bandmates belies her youth! What a pro! Like all the great drummers in the classic rock era she has a strong foundational underdtsnding of jazz. Just an amazing musician and scholar; a first class human.

I can't name a drummer, that is as good at playing Jazz AND Rock as Yoyoka is.

Another stellar performance. Especially Soul Alive with the two saxophones, YOYOKA’s mid song solo was next level. The chemistry these folks have is really wonderful.

Anyone else noticing how much more structured her solos are getting? Coherent ideas executed over longer and longer time frames.

A great set from a great group! I'm counting the days until Yoyoka gets her own Grammy!
This young lady is a magnificent musician. Going from rock to jazz without any inhibitions. She has the world at her feet and the only way is up. I shudder to think what she will be like in her twenties and thirties. Awesome!!! 👏👏👏👏

Yoyoka knocks it outta the park, whether at the Whisky-a-GoGo or Baked Potato. Watched and listened to the whole set fascinated, spellbound, especially during that last song performance. Stunning

The drummer is the bedrock of a band, and Yoyoka's prodigious talent and utter fearlessness (like that solo with her signature crossover @28:14) insures that any band lucky enough to have her behind the kit will never lack direction and drive. She's only going to get better. Listen, watch, and enjoy! 🥁👏🏻

Yoyoka is unique at 14, she is already a legend and her accomplishments are incredible, she already does more at her age than most drummers will do in their entire lives.

I'm always amazed at how, at such a young age, that you can play an hour of jazz fusion without missing a beat or a change in dynamics. I have trouble remembering where my car keys are and you just play all these complex (at least to my ear) composition with such easy. I really don't understand how you remember all these songs.

you dont realize how good she is until she plays jazz, how technical, groovie, accurate... Thats unbelievable, just outstanding

My untrained ears tell me that her already super-tight playing has managed to get even deeper into a groove with these excellent players over time. I hear her drums integrating with the whole band on another level in this video. A superb gig right here.

It’s a unique experience listening to Yoyoka outside of the KZbin bubble, isn’t it? I bought the CDs recently and really enjoy listening to these songs without being hyper-focused on Yoyoka all the time. Gives me an even greater appreciation of her playing, if that makes sense.

I agree. Ken's melodies are ideal to jam on, especially with Yoyoka providing a great rhythmic foundation no doubt encouraged by the band.
