I am French, in 1978 in Paris I discovered by chance at the flea market Porte de Clignancourt his first album ''The Jeff Lorber Fusion (1977) when I listened to the song ''Deva Samba'' I said to myself : I came across a nugget that I'm not letting go! It's now more than 40 years that I still appreciate his evolution, and that I recognize his style at the first touch. It doesn't make me any younger but still the same feeling as when I was 16🥲. Merci Jeff💝

Dude, very true, but I've found local French fusion and jazz has always been of the highest quality too. I was listening to Jeff Lorber's The Samba in Brittany at a place I was staying and all these amazing French musos turned up.

I ran FOH for Jeff Lorber concerts (and a bunch of other great concerts including Michael Urbaniak and Urszula Dudziak) at the Univ of Maine Hauck Auditorium in the 70s. Great musicians, easy to mix, so well balanced. Every concert was a hit.

@@wasabi1drful you can tell he's a good player, but he sounds like he doesn't know the songs, and he's not really creating any peaks or valleys. Good stuff, great venue! Played a gig as bassist with Pat Coil’s old band Recoil at the Agora in Dallas many years ago opening for Jeff Lorber Fusion. They were killer and Kenny G was his sax man. Loved the lead in to Tune 88. Lovely re-realization, hauntingly Grusin-esque. My late son - a drummer - got exposed to the Jeff Lorber Fusion in our home when he was a little tyke. Even then he could find the “beats between the beats” the band tucked so neatly and tightly into both the tunes theMselves as well as the comping. What a joy that was for me - music educator - to see my son light up with life force from the music. Thank you for the gift of sound you’ve brought to us all.

Jeff Lorber I definitely need to dig further into but I do have some of his music. The drummer I thought was stellar in playing with two long time experienced players and for him and Jimmy to mesh together as well as they did was special. I've listened to this three times now and will definitely listen more. What a great ride they produced together. Damn!😮
