Ken's Fauvel AV-36

This is a video of Ken Kaye's Fauvel AV-36 scale tail-less glider model flown at CVRC club's April Aerotow event near Visalia, California.

Congratulations to Ken from CharleFAUVEL ' daughter.Ch FAUVEL deposited his first patent in 1929 at age 23. He was a fighter pilot since 1923. Flew Bleriot Pinguin,SPAD 7 and 13, Breguet 14 before becoming a Test pilot(French n°37).With his fellows Henri ZIEGLER,General Engineer,future founder of AIRBUS, Jacques LECARME from Ecole Polytechnique, future Chief of flight tests when Concorde first flew in 1969,they invented,under the Direction of Général Engineer BONTE, the first method of scientific investigation of flight characteristic of planes for Certification. This method,improved is still used nowadays,with the help of computers. In 1935 he was the first in the world to obtain a Certificate of Airworthiness for fis tailless AV 10,which was stolen by the nazis in 1940,at the collapse of France. Me 163 utilized his Patent deposited in Germany in the 30's,without his agreement. In 1947,CharleFAUVEL was ready to make a 200 Tons flying wing. He used to say tailless,instead...for him a wing was made to fly. Happy end od the year from France !

@@Planekrazy1 Very Happy Flying New Year to you!Thanks,too,making us younger...AV 36 was ready before WW II,but in fact he could not make it due to his involvment as a military test pilot .During WWII, he had to cease any activity,due to nazi occupation,and in order not to be involved in collaboration. It's not until Dec 31st 1950 that he was able to make the first flight of AV 36,with an open cockpit. Later he produced the beautiful AV 22,tandem two seater glider with excellent glide ratio at high speed,due to less drag . Ch.FAUVEL designed the first auto stable airfoil,with double curve,at age 23...in 1929. It's a pity that Ch.FAUVEL did not meet J.K. NORTHROP in the 40's, their exchanges od ideas miggt have been very productive. But CH.FAUVEL has a problem with English..
