gotta love when a musician gets the crowd into it. and kenny is one who does that perfectly with the emotion that he puts into his music

I was lucky enough to be in the audience at this show. I also saw Kenny outside Paris with Miles in 91. Consistently Killin!!

I think this live number was the very first time I actually stopped and listened to Kenny do his thing on the alto (back when they used to air this performance on BET on Jazz). Never forgot about him after that and wound up buying at least 4 of his albums, including Triology which had this groovin' track. Still prefer this live version though. Kenny really stretches out here!!! >;-)

@JazzBluesClassical42 But yeah, Em penta will get you started if you stay aware of the fact that there are actually 3 chords in the tune Em, C and B7 and you adapt it to fit the chords (especially the B7).

although tain is great, and has a solid groove imagine bal;de in this setting, he would get so into it and match the rythms he is playing

@GrooveWorshipper Yeah Blade is more musical in the sense that he plays more like a musician than a drummer.

@JazzBluesClassical42 You can play whatever the fuck you want man. It's not about scales, it's about music.
