Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam has a lot to offer - Let's explore!
I am still on Phu Quoc, the biggest island in Vietnam. In the previous episode we already found something interesting: A deserted European city. In today's video from Phú Quốc I will show you the star fish beach. In order to get there I had to take a off the beaten path road....

Glad you made it to the beach, I was worried about your tyres, luckily it worked out! The starfish is so cute, but it's a pity that it can only live in the sea, otherwise I would like to raise it! Thank you for your route suggestions, I believe it will be very helpful for passengers! Great job, thanks a lot for sharing!👍🤩🙌

Oh gosh, that off the beaten path road to the beach is a a real struggle. It's very brave and adventurous of you to use that lonely gravel path with so many potholes. A big applause to you, Ken. Anyway, that exploration is worth it as you finally reached that star fish beach. Yeah, love the super fine sand on the beach. Very thoughtful of you to pick up that empty can lying there...an act done by a litterbug 😩😩 Wow, wow, that sunset is absolutely breathtaking. Nice outro by having a plate of yummy beef noodle. Excellent content, epic drone footage and as always the video is an interesting one. Thank you very much for the hard work, Ken.

That road is a piece of cake compared to dirt roads in the mountains of northern Thailand…especially during rainy season. You need 4 wheel drive and hire someone to ride in the back of the truck who digs you out of the mud.

Aww....I love the starfish and there were so many of them! If I recall correctly, that place where they were preparing the scallops on the pier is supposed to be a great seafood restaurant that another vlogger I saw years ago eat and and said it's the best seafood they ever had. I bet eating there as the sun set would be an amazing experience.

Wow, so what are the chances of bumping or meeting another fellow German on one deserted road? It has been quite a while since you did a trip like this..... Exploring and discovering off the beaten path places, having local meal in local small restaurant... That makes travelling in places like this a great experience but it's not for everyone.... Vietnamese food in general pretty simple... Overall lotsa of vegetable with either some meat... Vietnamese food is pretty easily found even in place like Malaysia or Singapore. Good healthy tasty meals...... anyway , it was quite a day.... Take care and ride safely on the road, mate.... Cheers!!

The seashells in the tubs that you asked the ladies at the beach convenient store is scallops. I think I’m sure 95%. About the vocabulary, I don’t have the word stresses in Vietnamese here, so I explain that BO with the hook at the angle of the letter O, you can pronounce it like er, means avocado; BO with the stress towards to the left above the letter O, you pronounce it like O\, means beef. Also, BO with the stress to the right, you read it with the higher volume than the two BO words of avocado and beef. BO with stress on the right means tie. Example: you tie the rope on the branch of the tree. Or how to tie a tie? Summary: BO with stress towards to the right means tie as a verb, and means a bunch or a pile of… used as a Noun. Write them down on a paper, you can see their differences.

FYI Phu Quoc island was neglected for so long . It just started to be developed about 14 years ago as a tourist spot . I went there in 2006 for the first time and it was still a quiet under-developed island with no luxury resorts, hotels and restaurants . The roads were worse than the one you just rode over but the scenery was amazing and there was no pollution . The locals back then were mostly fishermen and militaries who lived there to protect the island from the Cambodian invaders ( FYI under the Pol Pot's regime , the Khmer rouge soldiers always made incursions into VN to rob and massacre innocent Vietnamese people like they did to their own people . That was the reason why in 1979 after many unsuccessful warnings our national army was obliged to go to Cambodia to overthrow that bloody regime to stop the genocide and save the Cambodian people). During the French occupation and the American war , this Island was a military camp to jail the Vietnamese patriots and political prisoners who fought against the French colonialist regime and the pro-American South Vietnamese government . The Phu Quoc inhabitants were very poor because the only economic activity on this island was the Fish Sauce production . Today with the tourism rise , PQ is becoming one of the peak tourist destinations in VN . I really appreciate your respect for the environment and the sea fauna there . I am always outraged to see some tourists throw trashes on the beach and in the sea or catch and ill-treat the starfishes . Have a nice stay in VN my friend .

Regarding the letter d, it can make 4 different sounds (blame the Portuguese for not translating properly). It can be a hard d sound like in English, or it can be a z sound or a y sound...yeah, not sure why the Portuguese didn't uses the appropriate letters. And the word bo can be pronounced in different ways depending on the accent marks. Beef is pronounced like baw (or think of the word ball, but don't say the ll sounds at the end) or for avocado is buh (which means butter in Vietnamese). For the letters tr or ch, just think j sound in English (close enough) and tr and t are switched from English sounds so th makes the t sound whilst th makes the t sound. Gi like Ha Giang Loop makes a z sound.
