Hello DR Berry, I may have an unusual case here. My big toe "looks" like it has toe fungus on it but im not sure that it "IS" fungus. What happened was about 22 years ago I was moving a fridge on some dollies and it slid off and fell on my big toe. I done the drilling a hole in the nail to relieve the pressure but the nail never got better. It has been like this for 22 years. The end of the nail bulges up and looks just like fungus. Ive tried everything but having the nail removed to see if it would grow back normal. will Keto life reverse this?

What are your thoughts on undecylenic acid? Also, would putting rubbing alcohol help kill the bacteria? I know it will keep them dry.
@BetterDeadThanRed995 жыл бұрын
Lugols or Nascent iodine applied directly is an extremely powerful fungicide. I'm not an MD but I know a thing or two about chemistry and biology. Forget the other topical 'remedies' like acetic acid - they are weak and inferior. Iodine is key. It sticks around a lot longer than anything else and continues to work after the initial application. Applied regularly, the only negative side effect is that your toes are stained yellowish. I used iodine to 'cure' an abscessed tooth infection that according to mainstream medical practice, was "not possible". Rather than paying some highly educated moron to preform a $4,000 root canal procedure, I treated the affected tooth with topical nascent iodine for a few dollars and 3 years later there is no evidence of an abscess; which is nothing short of a miracle considering that I have poor oral hygiene and never brush my teeth. So happy I took things into my own hands. From my perspective most 'Doctors' have become little more than 'glorified pharmaceutical vending machines'. I feel like a medical scientist would be of more use to someone than a doctor. If I were wealthy enough I would consult a team of medical scientists rather than doctors. I'm digressing... anyway... Iodine not only kills bacteria and fungi, it is a vital component of the immune system and facilitates an environment conducive to the healing process. I cannot imagine a single doctors office that doesn't have copious amounts of iodine on hand - even in underdeveloped countries. Yet if you go in with a toenail fungus they will prescribe you a barrage of expensive experimental medicines... with numerous untold side-effects... when the solution is literally within arms reach of the doctor the entire time but for some reason remains an unattainable treatment option the patient isn't even so much as educated about!!! I find that a bit ironic and really brings into question the efficacy of the modern 'doctor patient' relationship. Seems like doctors are made to walk a bureaucratic tight-rope so tense you could pluck a tune on it.

Skip to 4:33 to actually get to the topic. 1.) Less sugar and carbs. 2.) Don't wear shoes when possible, be barefoot as much as possible. 3.) Exposure to the sun is hostile to foot fungus, 5 minutes per day of exposure. 4.) Apple cider vinegar soak once a month. 5.) Hygiene, use an old tooth brush to clean your toes in the shower. 6.) Keep nails trimmed, but not around the corners, no digging, straight cuts. 7.) blow dry toes with hair dryer after shower.

I lost half my toenail to fungus after I had covid and was run down. I had the fungus for years before that, but it had never been that bad. I used oil of oregano directly on the affected skin for a couple of weeks, once in the morning and then at night (I probably forgot a few times). This treatment completely eradicated the fungus, my toenail grew back normally over the winter and the fungus is permanently gone. I did not change my diet, did not get new socks, or anything. It worked for me and oil of oregano is found at most health food stores, or on Amazon. That said, the diet mentioned on this video is also a great idea for general health. Good luck! UPDATE: My toenail continues to be fungus free and completely healthy. Oil of Oregano is powerful stuff!

I had toenail fungus for about 2 decades. I used the paint on varnish on and off and it seemed to kill the fungus but it came back. The final straw for me was the whole big toe nail peeling off as it was rotten underneath. I found an internet solution (I know, I know!) that I thought I would try and it killed my fungus off and 3 years later I am still clear without continuing the treatment. Here's my solution: 1. I used a Urea creme to soften the nail and I trimmed as much of the rotten nails as I could with scissors and even a box-cutter blade to trim off the top to expose as much garbage as I could. 2. I painted the affected nails with tea tree oil and applied a plaster / band-aid to the painted nail. Keep this on until the band-aid falls off. 3. After a shower, apply Oregano oil to the nails and then cover with the band-aid. 4. When the band-aid falls off, switch to a tea tree oil coating and repeat this switching until the nail grows out clean. You have to keep this up consistently until the nail becomes healthy but I finally removed my fungus after 2 decades of infection!

I did all this, but not the Lamisil. I did something extra tho. In the beginning I was rigid and certainly used the blow drier! I cut my nails short and kept them clean, but I also sanded my nail down. All the nail. They actually looked normal when I did this. Don’t let this fool you. After sanding tho, I immediately swabbed tea tree oil on all my nails - even the ones that weren’t icky. Diet, exercise, sun, trim nails straight across, scrub them super clean, dry thoroughly, file or sand the nail to where it is thinner (this was relief on my ingrown toe nails), dry with a dryer and immediately apply tea tree oil to nails all over and in the crevices and under the nail bed. Only file or sand when they need it, of course. AFter that, continue to clean, dry and apply tea tree oil after showering. Also, make sure you have fresh clean socks. In the beginning I would change them out twice a day and was constantly washing my socks and would reapply the tea tree oil to be tough on the fungus. Now, it returns about once every two years. I do the above once and maybe apply the tea tree oil for about a week, only wear fresh clean socks and I’m good to go in about a week or two. The main thing is diet, exercise and good hygiene on the toes. I have type 2 diabetes and this was criminal to my immune system. Not only do I not have icky nails, but no dry and cracked heels. I buy socks more often now and never hesitate to just throw old socks out. Adapting for the long time, like he suggests is key.

After I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and before I could begin to get it under control I started having major problems with embarrassing toenail fungus. I was given several options for curing this problem but none of them seemed to be good solutions and some of them were even dangerous and my pharmacist recommended against using them. I then started researching natural remedies and saw that a tincture made out of black walnut hulls was considered very effective against toe fungus as well as many other health issues, and since I had such a tree on my property I decided to give it a try. This cure worked very well and would stop the growth of the fungus right away, regular treatment every two or three days would keep it from returning and after my blood glucose levels were under control I was able to just treat my toenails occasionally if I noticed a problem. But, using the black walnut tincture turned my toenails an ugly brown color which was better than the fungus still ugly. During my research, I had learned that the main anti-infection ingredient in this tincture was natural iodine the walnut hulls. This then gave me the idea to just use store-bought iodine tincture, which it turned out worked even better than my walnut hull remedy with a little less staining of the nail. One day when looking around my local pharmacy I found a bottle of "Decolorized" Iodine tincture! Now I finally have the perfect solution to toenail fungus, the decolorized Iodine tincture cures my toenail fungus and once or twice a month treatments keep it away with little or no nail discoloration. At that time I wasn't on keto but I saw my Indian friends always wearing sandals and realised the toes will be dry in sunlight with the sandals. This all backs up what you have said about dry feet and sunlight. Thanks for your educational videos Dr Berry.

He has 7 children who were developing weight problems from the "SAD" food lies I was taught! So you see how you, not only helped one person, but a whole tribe of great people too! I have 3 children, 13 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren!!! 👏👏👏😱) I did Keto (lost 75lbs. and quit smoking) for the inside attack, and Tea Tree Oil on the outside of my toes, air dried, twice a day for six months. I finally have decent looking toenails! Getting them filed to be straight has been a challenge. They would grow out all thick and raggedy, shredding my sheets and socks. But with time I got the nails healthy and straight again. Now I just have to maintain with your awesome suggestions and good to go! 👏👏👏👏

I trained dance for years, it’s rough in the feet. The BEST thing for toenail fungus that completely worked for me was putting tea tree oil on all my cuticle and under the nail where it was lifting. Interesting. I had an infection a few years ago that caused the toenail to get dry and brittle. I used a lot of hand sanitizer on it and about a week later it seemed a little better. The nail started growing back healthy and I kept using the alcohol based germ killing hand sanitizer. It eventually resolved when the new nail grew back. Great medical advice. I had a toenail infection, fungal, and doing a similar regimen was able to grow a new healthy nail. No current signs of fungus, but still practice this regime. Especially blow drying my feet and keeping my nails trimmed to a reasonable length.Yes, the deep ridge that the nail developed took months to grow out, but did not return. I acquired the infection after someone suggested I let my toenails grow longer for appearances. The problem was the longer the nail the more moisture remained under the nail,. A setup for a fungal infection. My feet look great, and my shorter nails look beautiful in red nail polish! Important in the summer months wearing scandals! Thanks Doctor Berry, great advice.

BEST DR EVER!!! I love that your advice is just natural, eating right and doing other things like exposure to sun, which I had no idea, fungus didn't like. I just got fungus on the tip of my nail, it had to occur weeks ago, because, beginning of August, there was no sign of fungus, I just had trauma to the nail from June wearing my sneakers and walking many hours and bumping into a kid on the street which he ended up stepping on my big toe, was hell! I came home and saw that I had gotten a bruised toe nail and or blood underneath the nail. So since June, the nail has been fine and slowly growing out the bruising, it went from the cuticle to now being the middle of my nail, which I'm happy about, it's almost there of getting outgrown. But, today, I took off my white nail polish and saw that I had discoloration of whiteish/yellowish color at the tip of my nail, I freaked out that it could be fungus ;( The weird thing is, I'M ALWAYS BAREFOOT, ALL YEAR ROUND, I'm a barefoot lover, I love to be free and hate wearing socks. I have NEVER had a problem with fungus with my toe nails, EVER, so I'm so shocked as to why I or how I got it?!? :( I know lately I have been eating sugar like crazy, because I haven't had sugar since summer started, I've been deprived, so I went crazy with the sugar ;(, I'm guessing that's why the fungus happened? ;( I'm already a skinny girl naturally, I hate being on a diet, it just means I'm going to get skinnier ;( This blows ;(

A twist on the toothbrush advice is to use a sonicare brush, and for soap use a drop of Nizoral shampoo with it. Nizoral's active ingredient is ketaconozole, an anti-fungal agent. It was once prescribed in pill form (like Lamisil) specifically to treat nail fungus (but it no longer is as it was too hard on the liver when taken internally). That damn fungus is tough stuff - gotta attack it every way possible to get it gone.

All my toe nails have been infected since then. Last year, I bought my first pair of sandals. I'm retired so, I can wear them all day, every day. Sunshine? I live in the Mohave Desert here in AZ where there is more sunshine here than any other state in the union. I spend most of my daylight time outside, year round. My toes get more than their fair share of sunlight every day. Although, I can see improvement in my toes, after one year in a very sunny, dry climate, I still have toe fungus. I believe I need to look at my diet a lot closer than I have this past year. That may hold the key to success along with the exposure to the sun. I'll report my results in another year. Thanks again for the common sense method you offer. You are to be commended!

Make sure you blow dry the surface on the opposite side of your nail and on the sides of your toe.. I meant blow dry first and then use tea tree oil. Put the hair dryer on low. Move slowly inch by inch until you feel sudden high heat. Stay for a second or 2. Repeat.

that is awesome info. I do believe that I worse circulation in my left leg, and on that side I have foot fungus. I have a neck diagnosis so cannot rebound but I am wondering if I would not be able to get the same effect with some other exercise doing the same.

After watching this video I realized that I’m happy with my toenail fungus as I don’t want to change all the things necessary to fix the fungus but I wish everyone else good luck getting their nail fungus under control

Totally feel you. Someone recommended putting some chlorox bleach and plug in the bath and letting it fill up as a soak while you shower. She recommended a cup. Im just going to do that every day, let your nails soak while washing. No soaking for hours, no adding to my already busy day. Will update xox

Please do a video about how to get rid of thorn warts! Seems like doctors can’t really help with this. Tried so much, but no success. Also, I wanted to let you know that people from outside the US, UK and Canada are watching, too. I’m watching from Germany, would pay a lot of money to have a doc like you, and am happy to see your channel grow! Keep up the great work, Sir!

I had a fungus in one finger nail. Online I found an article from an MD and he treated his fungus condition by applying Iodine, as it is an antifungal. Yes, original iodine will turn your nail orange but I found a decolorized (white/clear) iodine that works. I applied to the nail ends and around the cuticle as well. Later, I also applied Tea Tree oil too. In short time I began to see improvement as the nail began to grow out. It has probably already been 3 to 4 months and it is almost totally clear. Bottom line to me, I did not have to take Lamisil and have repeated Dr visits to have liver functions monitored. Oh yes, I am also non-sugar and extremely low carb.

I did take some anti fungal prescription and used a nail paint. Even broke my thumb taking the lid off that stupid bottle. Nothing helped for maybe a year. My whole toe got red and swelled up so much it made me cry most days. Nail got thick and black spots. I saw a podiatrist and they filed it down a lot. Gave me something to put on which also didn’t help much. Then I tried iodine but I mixed it with DMSO (a liquid with sulphur in it) to help it penetrate the nail and also it kills fungus too. I think a few days later I could see the nail change colour and it looked like it finally killed the fungus. I’ve only used it a few times but it’s growing out now. The new nail isn’t perfect but I have started the iodine again to make sure it’s fully dead and won’t come back.

As a podiatrist and LCHF advocate I have been teaching this for years... Well done Dr Berry! 👍 However, after 20 years of experience with terbinifine, I've never had anyone have liver issues with it... Even after years of use... I wholeheartedly agree that you have to make yourself an inhospitable host.

I started Terbinafine (Lamisil) about 6 weeks ago. Feeling fine, no issues. I do have RA which is autoimmune so I will consult my podiatrist re the effectiveness of medication.

Terbinafine can have other, potentially awful side effects. I had to stop taking after only a week, due to all over muscle and joint pain and insomnia.

Great advice, I would also recommend covering your nails and feet in coconut oil, your skin on your feet dry up the fungal skin and will peel off , good for hard skin on feet. Or cracks between your toes.

Thank you! I appreciate the fact you addressed diet and natural remedies. I get so tired of the mainstream medicine that always looks to prescribe pharmaceuticals and never talk about diet, etc.

Thxs doctor! Changing the diet is key, doctors never asked me what I eat (I’m 62) when I had issues like inflammation disease, migraine, prostate hypertrophy, etc... I wonder sometimes if they really want to see us more healthy. I live in Switzerland, and More and more I think there is more benefit for pharma, banks, insurances and medicine to keep us ill. This is a sad situation
