Kudo is definitely one of the coolest martial arts Its like a mix of kyokushin, judo, grappling, and lethwei but more practical in terms of athlete safety and longevity

How about CTE though? Kudo fighter seems very aggressive because of the ruleset and the safety feeling they get from the helmet. From watching competitions online, I feel like a LOT of punches land in their helmets. Any thoughts?

The idea of bare handed fighters going against weapons has always been an awesome concept for me. I'm a bare handed martial artist with only a bit of Kenjutsu, staff, and Nunchaku experience, but I'd love to fight a Kendoka bare handed

I have studied both Kudo and Muay Thai respectively. Both are very effective, but Kudo has much more Judo style throws involved.

As a HEMA person, one thing I don't see too often in your videos is blade grabbing, particularly since the katana has such a wide blade and blunt backspine (and especially given how you kendokas control the striking blade midair) I would think slapping and grabbing the back of the blade would have a bigger place in sparring, though it's not easy to pull off, as shown by the kudo sensei. Do love these videos!

Fun video, as always! It's always such a joy seeing martial artists of different styles take some time to exchange each other's knowledge with each other, and having a few rounds of sparring. It's always fun seeing how someone with such a disadvantage can take advantage of avoiding a legal / agreed upon scoring area from getting hit to make it more even!

Man, if the kendoka was not limited just to kendo ruled shots the budo guy would have lost *waaaay* more. Not surprised, fighting against a person with a weapon while unarmed is practically asking to be killed, you can’t even safely block his sword or dodge reliably, you’re at the mercy of the swords range.

This fight is just a exposition match, pratice. It's what we call randori in judo. Kudo is taught mainly for police enforcment, so many carry weapons and only deal with criminals wich may have some pocket knife or a hand gun, not a sword or spear. This video is just for the fun and gimmicks

To improve Kudo you have to pass the guard of Kendo more faster and entrering not lateraly the counters attack, like Shōmen kote, Shōmen-dô etc... It's the same way like side strike in Karate-do kyokûshin-kaï...Kudo have a Very good potential but need to adapt the range of katana to be effective. El de Kudo debe aprender que en un combate contra alguien armado debes acortar distancias sujetar derribar , hacer llave o barrer, pero debes incapacitar lo más rápido posible no hay espacio para golpes en combinación. Ahora todo esto lo digo como alguien que ha aprendido a combatir contra gente armada y esa son las cosas más básicas, aunque siempre te llevas un corte o dos.

Correcto. Tambien puedes intentar alejarte y cuando corran en tu direccion pensando que vas a escapar, acortas la distancia. (Puede salir MUY mal contra ciertas armas y ataques)

@@jestfullgremblim8002 Mira bro en buen plan y porque enserio no quisieras que pasaras por algo horrible te dire que nunca jamas en una pelea contra alguien armado te elejas o haces eso que dices, pues si lo haces te van a matar a filazos literal he visto como por alejarse un poquito aun chero le volaron la mano (era la mano de las pajas, la derecha), esto paso cuando estuve laborando como guardia con unos cheros volviendo la histria man tuvimos que entrar en tacle para evitar que lo mataran, ya que el maje al ver que le volaron la mano se quedo congelado y gritando, pues el miedo le gano en lugar de pelear se tiro al suelo agarrando el cutuquillo que le dejaron, al final nos toco llevarlo al hospital para que le ayudaran a parar eel sangrado, esta experiencia lo que provoco en mi fue que desde ese momento me la pensara dos veces cuando hacia mis rondas y veia a alguien con machete man, pues te das cuenta del daño que alejarse un poquito en el combate puede provocarte y te sientes debil e indefenso, por lo que te recomiendo que si en alguna ocasion llegas a verte en una situacion asi no te alejes acorta distancia de golpe sin dudarla ni un minuto ya que es mejor prevenir que lamentar.

a shinai is made not to hurt, basically kendo uses a shinai to represent a katana in training so as not to put the opponent at risk, therefore, any fighter or not against a kenshin has an advantage, however if we exchange the shinai for a katana this fight it would be over before it happened, they notice the successful attack on the opponent's head right at the beginning....if it was a real katana, it would end at that moment.

both martial arts are good, but they are not meant to be used against eachother... Kudo comes from Karate, and I guess a more compatible martial arts from the same family would be Kubodo, since it uses weapons.

I would have zero chance of breathing properly in that face shield. The only way that I could wear one of those is if I had a forced air device on my back to keep air supplied to the face portion.

@@Neochrono I don't have specific respiratory problems, but I have problems pushing air through things. I could never wear a mask without fainting. I live in a cold area, and I can't wear a balaclava hood unless I cut an actual opening for my mouth I bought one that has a cloth screen that is supposed to allow breathing, but I can't get enough air into or out of the screen to keep myself upright. If I were wearing a helmet with only those two holes, I would run out of air quickly.
