Brain dead take. You had a guy dismantling the psychology and cultural relevance of another dude using different mediums of art and expression. The amount of entendres in the song Euphoria has never been done in a rap beef. The title 6:16 alone is layered so many ways from bible verses to him preemptively going at the sixty-nine god bar by saying the 6 god likes 16 year olds. Rap disses are about disrespect from Tupac saying what he said about Biggie and Mobb Deep to Ice Cube saying Easy E got a1ds because Jerry Heller fked him figuratively via his record deal and literally in the song no Vaseline. Kendrick not only served up layers of disrespect but dissected a man lyrically. Since you won't get it, I'll try to sum it up. You know how black kids in America will tear each other down as a means of fun? Your momma jokes don't have to be true they just have to be witty, clever, and funny. That's where rap disses come from that same culture.

He explained on the song "Worldwide Steppers" that one of the reasons we waited 5 years for Mr. Morale is that he had writer's block. Why would anyone want him to drop music when he had no inspiration to create it? That's how you get two 20-song albums a year that are 90% filler (e.g., the way BBL Drizzy has been doing it for the last few years). “You and I both know we got some shxt to address” …Kendrick said it, Metro said it, neither elaborated. We really still don’t even know what this beef is about. That’s the wild part. I feel like Ebro and others injected their own feelings. But, we really don’t know what has gone down behind the scenes.. What we DO know is… Kendrick kept it light on Euphoria, even though he was rapping his ass off, and warned him not to keep on with the family angle. Drake didn’t listen, and he got himself bodied.

I absolutely despise this narrative that holding someone accountable and exposing their terrible actions that affect many people is somehow depicted as “black men tearing each other down over rap beef”
@seth1316 ай бұрын
I think the issue is that if K Dot knew all these supposed "facts" and only held drake "accountable" when it was convenient for Kendrick is the problem. If you want to call someone out for "terrible actions" as you said, do it upon finding out and expose them. Waiting for that person to piss you off before you expose them is not a good look, especially if you think that person is harming people. Its also the same for Drake if he actually has proof that K Dot is an domestic abuser. If you have info that could save victims livelihood, SPEAK UP IMMEDIATELY. That's why I personally think its all just battle rap jabs which, if true, is just black men publicly tearing each other down. That's my opinion but I'm just a white guy who loves hip hop and has followed and enjoyed both artists since 2011.
@kanaentaylor10956 ай бұрын
I agree like how are we as people can say we’re tearing each other down when clearly drake needs to be accountable for the fuck shit he’s done for years and everyone has glossed over it’s something that’s pissed me off about this situation is how some people and some rappers and OG’s are treating this situation like no drake needs to be held accountable for his actions with the young girls to befriending actual pdf dudes and keeping them around to him using our black culture whenever he’s thinking of his own personal gain cuz we shouldn’t be having another r Kelly situation again or even in this Diddy shit you would think we would have smartened up from all this stuff but of course that’s not the case so I totally agree that Kendrick holding drake accountable is the best thing I’ve seen in hip hop in a long time cuz Kendrick drew that line in the sand that needed to be drawn
@seth1316 ай бұрын
That's a fair point, I agree with you. In this case with two famous rappers, it would be out of pocket to start throwing unprompted accusations around without hard proof. And like you said this beef was the perfect vehicle to air accusations from both sides without legal matters getting involved.
@freetheost6 ай бұрын
@@seth131 Unfortunately it doesn't always work that way. Speaking from experience... I've watched someone attempt to expose a popular .pdf internet celebrity only to be met with hate and vitriol. The abused party opened up to their friends, and one friend was understandably enraged. They went to great lengths to try to get the abuser taken down, but the result was simply that the abused party denied the allegations. At that time they weren't ready to go through having all of that go public, and they were also pressured by the abuser. Even the police did nothing. Now scale that up to a celebrity at Drake's size. The problem is that a 3rd party really can't expose someone for this type of thing without a ton proof in their hands. Knowing something just isn't enough, even if you are right or have seen proof. Kendrick seems to be aware of this. The 11 year old girl (if real) has a life, friends, family, etc. and Kendrick exposing her to the world to win a rap beef would be terrible on his part. It's just as tricky for .pdf allegations. Abusers like R. Kelly and Diddy were exposed by victims(of several crimes) long before anything stuck because of all of the money and power they can throw around. I'm sure celebrities know how easy it is for celebrities to bury stories and restore their public image.
@kanaentaylor10956 ай бұрын
I definitely agree that both Kendrick and drake said some things that heavy as hell about each other and we don’t have proof at all on both sides but it’s just a lot of weird stuff going on with drake after the beef ended this is why we haven’t seen him out and about and especially after this diddy stuff come out it’s starting to seem more plausible that drake is or has done some creep shit where so far nothing hasn’t come out about Kendrick yet or that’s if ever does or if its true but I do agree that this stuff about drake could’ve been brought up sooner especially if it is true but not just solely Kendrick but anyone in the industry can’t just say this things without getting blackballed of course which is not an excuse cuz the truth should be exposed regardless but sometimes you gotta play your cards right in this situation and maybe Kendrick wanted to be in the more a position of power where it’s like he doesn’t have to play the politics the same way he did when he was on TDE now that it just him he can really draw that line but I’m not caping for Kendrick decision but I’m trying to apply some logic to all of this

The past hip hop, such as Public Enemy, De La Soul, ATCQ, etc. But even today, KOD, TPAB, “This Is America”. Hip-Hop’s true purpose was exactly as Ebro said, a tool to give voice to the voiceless. That’s why dance and street art/graffiti was a part of it.
@neeyku5 ай бұрын
@@SirYaliBeats You said it's exactly as he said but he didn't say a voice to the voiceless. He said it's a tool used to share information when the establishment fails to do so. so... Mokster already covered this. Also you've just thrown in a "that's why" there without really showing why any of these statements correlate. It is by no means a tool used to educate the black community. It is firstly a way of life. Secondly it is the power of music that has been achieved by those who believed in themselves no matter how much Crack, Instagram or Aids got thrown their way. It is the understanding, appreciation and wielding of the sacred art forms of dance, guerilla art & graffiti, spoken word and performance enabled by japanese rnd and a free market. Those who shine the greatest are the best writers, like Ice Cube & 50 cent across multiple genres and mediums. Hip Hop is a spirit that will never die, no matter how polluted the message becomes. I personally think that the collateral damage that was done in this beef is way more of a reflection of the hip-hop culture itself. People have the rights to make their critique because there is some truth to it. However with that being said, people keep forgetting that Kendrick warned Drake to keep it friendly and not mention his family and yet he still mentioned his family anyways. Also all of the people like Quest Love and Ice Cube who had harsh critiques about the beef also should assess their roles in hip-hop too. Ice cube still hasn’t settled his own beef with Westside connections and Questlove was involved as well with Takeover with Jay-Z when he went at Nas & Mobb Deep. I don’t like how the old heads are wagging their fingers at Drake & Kendrick when some of them also still have beef’s going on themselves and or have played a role in why rap beef is still prevalent. Vince Staples critique has way more validity however that battle is way deeper than rap as far as dealing with corporations and execs and wanting better for black art. All I’m saying is people need to be more accountable of their own actions within the culture instead of trying shift blame.

to be honest, in response to Quest loves comments, DRAKE made it not about skill. Kendrick literally said "this aint personal its a friendly fade, you should keep it that way". BBL DRAKE wants to resort to bringing in family etc. K Dot is all about competition like he said in a few bars in the control verse. Then Dot said in Grahams that he fcked up soon as he mentioned his familys names. Its always about skill to Kendrick, friendly compo. just like MJ and Barkley being cool off the court but trying to take eachothers heads off on the court. Drake made the entire beef take an ugly turn. in the like that verse, there were no out of pocket bars just compo asserting himself as the best MC
