I can guarantee you you won't find anyone who is 100% perfect if you want to get married, we all have weakness and fall short, but it takes an adult to become better and help another become better, if helping someone else overcome themselves isn't for you than marriage should be the last thing on your mind honestly

nah why are cheaters always praised for being honest about cheating meanwhile the cheated-on partner is the one going through way more pain. kendrick’s a great artist and this album was great but can we just stop acting like cheating is a brave thing to do, there are so many options to not cheating on your partner if you feel like you want to have sex with other people: breaking up, talking about it with them, exploring a consensual open relationship etc. cheating is inherently dishonest and cowardly and i’m not gonna redraw that line for my fav artists

I think it's good that he does this, it helps bring him back down to earth when so many people put him and others like him on a pedestal, it's important he shows his flaws which we all have and when I heard him saying it I didn't admire his actions, but I did appreciate the honesty. And I agree with you that the best thing would be not to cheat in the first place and it's a very scummy thing to do for sure, but I've noticed that a lot of people today can be quite puritanical about people making mistakes and we should instead be promoting taking accountability for mistakes like he's doing in this song, instead of just not talking about it and being ashamed of it. It promotes a culture of shame and discourages people from learning from their mistakes, so I'm glad he added this to the album, it's important I think to show yourself, warts and all, that's what art is I think.

I'll be honest. I've been tired of the "man goes to therapy and realizes he treated his woman like shit" trope. Men keep getting applauded for doing the bare minimum and women are consistently taught to be unreasonably forgiving. If the roles were reversed, Kendrick probably wouldn't be with Whitney. But everybody's patting him on the back for simply admitting to all this. It's very weird.
@thelofiking94772 жыл бұрын
You know, you do have a point when you said Kendrick probably wouldn’t be with Whitney if she cheated on him. I think he recognized this though since he called her a pure soul when she recommended him therapy instead of leaving him. She was willing to stick by him and help him become not just a better partner but a better person. I think that’s pretty admirable and paints his wife in a positive light. But also keep in mind that this is only Kendrick Lamar’s flaws. We don’t know Whitney’s past and the mistakes that she’s made in her life or in their relationship so we shouldn’t try to judge either of them.

What I love about kendrick is that he really respects his fans/audience by not insulting their intelligence or being misleading. He understands hes held in such a high regard. Hes percieved by many to be a morale compass, of high character, an idol, infallible, and can do no wrong. But he knows thats not the case. Hes human like everyone else. He felt like he had a responsibility, esp becuz of being in that position, to not be a hypocrite. He felt he had a morale obligation not lie to himself by being real n staying true to himself n his supporters. U can feel that through out the album. It's dangerous to be idolized n he expresses that in many ways. Humanity, the complexity n the conflcitions of being human, is a constant theme through out the album. The pressure of that n the power in that is heavy. I dont think he was trying to be trendsetting or reinvent the wheel. It seems like his message is real change/freedom starts with doing right by n bein real with oneself. Dont be in denial confront it all for u n yours sake. It's ok to make mistakes or have problems as long as ur willing to put in work to evolve n learn from it. Free urself. Dont be a slave or beholden to an image or a perception u inevitably cant uphold or are not.

My thoughts were pain, anger and sadness. The fact that so many of our women in the spotlight have to deal with this behavior is so frustrating. Why? Why do you get to fxck half the world and we as women have to deal with that, beg you to go to therapy and then bear your children? It's so frustrating as a woman to keep hearing this narrative. This is the first song I heard on the album and I cried because I was so full of rage. I love Kendrick and his music, I was so disappointed to learn that he cheated and with many. Two things can be true at the same time: I can love his music and at that same time, if I was Whitney, wouldn't be able to move forward until I broke his nose. Those two things can be true at the same time, idgaf that he admitted to it and healed from it, just don't fxcking do it. Stop fxcking cheating on us. @ruvie You shouldn't let anyone drive you to the point where you have to physically abuse them. Imagine if a man said he could love a woman but still be angry to smack her in the face if she cheated. That's usually one of the excuses men give when they abuse women. My neighbor had this mentality. His wife cheated on him a lot. He finally left her but was stupid to be beating on her. Women shouldn't be beating on men just like men shouldn't be beating on women. In America, men and women cheat at the same percentage. This advocating for violence against each other needs to stop. If someone cheats on you and you can't deal with that bs, then just leave. It makes no sense catching a case over someone who does that. If you do choose to forgive them, then you have to do so fully to move on in the relationship. This beating on them ideology is bs.

I need to think about and look at why this situation is so triggering for me to even fantasize about acting out of my character. I think also I don't want to condone rage either though. That sometimes people do things that make you want to slap their face off, shit even your own parents or kids. But i agree with you that the world needs more peace, less violence against each other and that there are a lot of people without that self-control and restraint (there have been so many fatal road rage incidents like people getting shot on highways for simple things like accidentally cutting someone off, which is terrifying). I wonder what healthy ways can rage be channeled into. I appreciate this dialogue. Thank you. *Also I agree that domestic violence works both ways and NEITHER are acceptable.
@TripleSeven777Life2 жыл бұрын
@@CreativeEricafilms Yes, unfortunately our first reaction as humans is violence when we are wronged. Self-control definitely doesn't come automatically. It takes training and willpower over time. When it is used though it can safeguard our lives and those of others. Of course, if you are attacked self defense is needed but violence should never be the first option. I also appreciate the positive dialogue. You seem to be a very introspective and critical thinker. Love and respect! 🙂.

The simplicity of the instrumental makes you appreciate his vulnerability in the song. Thoughts on cheating on his now fiancé, he’s a big man for admitting it. But I don’t blame him. I wouldn't say I don't blame him. Yes he's a legendary artist and definitely I think for most of us here, his music played a huge role in our development (for those around my age being 21) BUT how can we not have the same energy towards the things he's done, the way he himself admits to his own vices. At the end of the day he hurt his partner, and i think not blaming him for his own actions actually ironically in this sense distorts the actual reality of what happened and makes us see a Saint instead of a human.

One, this song is on disc 2. An opening song of "count me out" where it's seems the entire album had been therapy and disc 2 is breakthrough (as it was spoken). Even the song Mr. Morale predicts he's gonna talk heavy in the next song 'Mother I Sober", anyway, the trauma he spoke on sex addiction becomes a much more understudy aspect of sexual assault and r*pe amongst black families and how has a connection to what slave masters made our ancestors do. Would be nice if you have included that info here. There's a round collective reason to his hurt and lack of commitment at one point and this song was a brilliant detail to how we shove this stuff under the rug. As black women we speak out at some time but black men don't have that space and seeking therapy is so frowned upon. I hope this song inspired some people , especially black men listeners too. His vulnerability in this topic specifically isn't common among hip hop. I think his scratchy tired voice in this song also felt like he is SO stressed (despression) of living like he was. And his shouting in the end was his breakthrough to break the generational curse. Beautiful song.

Being honest about horrible behavior doesn’t make it any less horrible. I’ve experienced infidelity and it’s the worst long-lasting feeling I’ve ever experienced. Kendrick cheating on his woman is abusive and traumatizing. It causes deep-rooted trust issues, risks STDs that could ruin her future sex and love life, and he wasted her time for his own selfish desires, causing so much pain, risking her body and life, all for sex…Evil. He needs to be better and do everything he can to ATTEMPT to make it up to her.
@joeritos6849Ай бұрын
He doesn’t downplay it as making it less horrible. He literally calls out his ignorance in his act and constantly questions whether forgiveness should even be an option for him. I suggest u relisten to the song

Why do celebrities keep fooling themselves into being monogamous? Just be real from the jump and avoid these future issues. There are attractive men and women in this world who will tolerate your one-sided/open-relationships. Why set the limit on yourself and create drama and break hearts?????
@jocelyncooper17382 жыл бұрын
@Souless Survivor ikr. You could use Will and Jada as a way to argue that open relationships are doomed to fail.
@100grizzlybears2 жыл бұрын
@Souless Survivor yeah looks like celebrities are able to stay faithful in their monogamous relationships too, huh? There definitely isn’t a constant stream of celebrity relationship scandal and drama on our daily news too, right??? Celebrity marriages DEFINITELY don’t have a reputation for being short-lived and messy….Gtfoh, even Presidents can’t keep it in their pants. There’s even evidence to believe MLK cheated on his wife with a white woman, Ghandi slept with MANY underaged girls in bed to “test his will” essentially (wink, wink), and Benjamin Franklin ran through like 8% of the women in the world despite looking like a sun-bleached ancient whale, because he COULD. Stop lying to yourself. People are only as faithful as their options. Sure there’s gonna be some faithful anomalies out there, but let’s not be coy and say that’ll be a significant percentage. Also, I won’t humor your example. Jada is a disrespectful, weird, fake-woke wildcard and Will is a neutered, broken, and confused shell of a man.

I agree. There are women and maybe some men who would be okay with their partner sleeping with others while they remain monogamous. And some partners may actually seek that type of relationship. I don't get why those ppl aren't constantly partnered up.
@jocelyncooper17382 жыл бұрын
@@100grizzlybears Will seems fucking miserable and has for years, even before the “engtanglement” situation. Also, an open relationship sounds great to most men until their female partner starts exercising the openness on her end. There’s been so many stories that it’s a pattern of behavior at this point.

Kendrick has soul, he is his own worst critic and he airs his own dirty laundry. You can tell this is real pain and we need more artists like him. Eminem tore himself up in the relapse album and then came out stronger, I'm praying Kendrick comes back harder too. Everyone had their demon's, it takes courage to talk about it and I'm proud to be a fan. ❤❤

I love Kendrick but I am very disappointed he cheated on his partner. yeah, nice he admitted it but i dont think his point was to get praised by that. I think y'all missing the point here. he doesnt deserve props for admitting being a shitty partner. listen to what he is saying. otherwise, y'all just normalize a very hurtful way to deal with your own demons. not to mention the fact that if she was the one cheating on him all of you would just harass her online.. so cut it off...
