HHHB, Yo this thing is magnificent work... I'm a sucker for fly epic West work and production..and Kendrick keeps it fresh while giving songs of fun, energy and excitement combined with poetic, masterful lyrically motivated witty darts. GNX tips MM&TBS not by much but it definitely does, I think for me personally this album showcases that Kendrick Lamar can just feed you whatever kinda dish you're looking for if you're a hungry Kendrick listener. 9/10.

Always, love this channels reviews. Haven't seen many lately, because I haven't had the time, this holiday season, to peep out alotta albums. However, Kendrick's different. His music has urgency, and is always layered, so I make time for his projects. Album gets better and better tge more I listen to it. I still have ScHoolboy Q and Freddie Gibbs albums ahead of GNX, but this album will def make my top 10 aoty list. Kendrick checked all boxes here, and I found it refreshing that, for once, he didn't do a conceptual project with an overarching theme. "Bops" Kendrick, as we saw on DAMN and GKMC, is a tool in his arsenal he can wield, whenever he so chooses. "TV Off"; "Squabble Up"; and songs like "Hey Now," all club/car bangers, he can likely make in his sleep. Overall, strong 4 mic project. I think this is a prelude to another project, which will probably be released around Super Bowl time, where Kendrick will get back into his conceptual bag. This one's clearly for the casuals/late-comers, who hopped on the Not Like Us wave.

Very well thought out honest and well stated review. Im not mad at your take here maf. Theres some radio friendly hits, some catchy rnb heavy bops a couple up tempo bangers and few more thoughtful or creative themed tracks. It's got decent sequencing and pacing and some good varied production that still gives strong cohesive westcoast vibes front to back. There were a couple duds for me personally that are just skips now after a few spins. Most of those features didnt really hit for me and id have liked to hear someone with a little more funk or soul featured in place of some of those more repetitive hooks (ala kokaine or maybe october london or even david ruffin) to give the album a little more flavor and depth but all in all i think this ones gonna check a lot of boxes for both casual and hardcore fans. I give it a light 4 mics.

Really solid review as always G, but I would have to disagree and say it’s a really solid 4 mic album. Cause he has a great mix of lyrical content and fun bangers that a lot of people always complain he doesn’t have a lot of the latter. Even though I would differ to them on that with tracks like that prior to this year from him including HiiiiPoWeR, Alright, Money Trees, HUMBLE., King Kunta and DNA. As just a few examples. My favorite tracks are the same except that I would also add man at the garden and tv off to that. I am actually surprised with the heavy Nas One Mic like influence and how good the track was plus you saying it was a standout that you didn’t have that as one of your favorites from the album. Also I would say for that track in particular I felt more Nas and Em type vibes rather than Nas and Andre 3000 like you mentioned. Honestly I felt a lot of the album had a lot of Nas influences throughout and I can see why I have seen some comments saying they feel that Kendrick is the Nas of his generation. Also wanted to add that isn’t a sample, but an actual mariachi singer, Deyra Barrera, who is on Wacced Out Murals, Reincarnated and Gloria. There is an article that just came out on Rolling Stone’s website yesterday. That someone talked with her as an exclusive about how she became a part of the album and it being pretty much cause of Dot seeing her perform a tribute to late Dodgers great, Fernando Valenzuela (R.I.P. 🙏🏼) before Game 1 of the World Series a few weeks ago.

Respect OG. This is what I had to say to my friend about it and it still hasn't changed. "I'm not feeling the album, it sounds like he's leaning heavily on the Not Like Us style. which isn't a bad thing. there are some highlight tracks, but the album just isn't hitting for me. it feels oddly uncreative for Kendrick." It felt like he played it safe for the most part. man at the garden is one of the highlights, but lines such as" I see you as a human first, even when you didn't understand your worth" just irk. Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers was such a poignant record because Kendrick was saying very brave things. That album had me excited for the next bar with almost every track. This on the other hand feels safe. reincarnated is one of the few songs that just straight slap. Absolutely love how he used 2pac's cadence even though I'm still trying to figure out why he did that. he's an intelligent musician so I'm betting there's a good reason for that. obviously heart pt. 6 is probably the best song on the album. absolutely love luther, it's a very good kind of accessible/commercial music. the rest, very meh. it feels like Kendrick is sticking to a formula and it's not his best formula. but at this point Kendrick is a safe choice for critics and anyone who wants to slap someone with best rapper/AOTY title so he'll continue to get those props rather than the honest constructive criticism that you offered in this review.
