I don't know how much you've heard from this album, but it was very political, like a lot of Kendricks music. He was making a lot of points about black Americans and our situation here in America, so that's why he's in a way comparing himself to those famous leaders. He was trying to make similar statements that they did through his music. I get your point that it is a stretch to put himself in the same conversation, but I think it's mostly theatrical and fits the theme of the album.

Please don’t react to hip hop anymore unless you actually do your research.

You know, I've listened to this album when it first came out - not going to call you out by your name for not knowing anything about the artist, that's just weird activity - and I was okay with that Michael Jackson line at the time, even had a shock for me then too. Even now, going back to this track, I don't get an "ick" but I still raise my eyebrows and grit my teeth...BUT overall, that line still carries the message of the song to being absolutely loyal, no matter what the "shit" was, still defending the name and title of that leader. Even that "you said he touched those kids?" line shows there's no ignorance to the """"allegation"""", or for another point of view, being loyal by ignorance to the allegation. This was back when Kendrick was in his "Savior" era, his prime was in this entire album, front to back...but he is not my Savior. (you'll get it if you hear something in his new album Mr.Morale & The Big Steppers) (new viewer btw)

The self aggrandising that you see Kendrick do on this album is actually addressed on his latest one. He talks about how it made him always feel like he wasn’t good enough, and he eventually realised that that mindset was wrong.

Nice reaction ❤ Also just fyi lol The Ariana Ghostin’ reaction you made made me realize you aren’t aware of the story behind it. Ariana was engaged to Pete Davidson when Ariana’s ex Mac Miller passed away. This song is an apology to him for being so supportive/understanding while she mourned & both of them knowing the relationship is basically over and her feeling guilty about it all. Just thought you’d wanna know lol love your videos! 😊

ive actually been taken to task really hard about not knowing any of that! I had no idea about any of it and the song really isn't that clear. as ive said many times, i try to stay away from any backstory, drama, or media "news" about artists. i'll end up forming opinions about the people and that will color the reactions. ill react to what i THINK the artist is about, instead of taking each and every song on it's own merits. just know that i never say anything in the spirit of meanness. thanks for being here, thanks for watching.

@@PopAt50 that’s kinda dumb tho cause backstories to songs can absolutely switch the way u feel about them. So you left a sad song thinking it was about something petty.

@@PopAt50 i get that but I think you may get a lot of heat in the future if something like this happens again. Especially as your channel gets bigger.
