u is a turning point in the album. He looks in the mirror, and confronts his flaws and mistakes. Then immediately follows it up with Alright, bringing immense positivity. Amazing!

Once you’re listening for the bass you start floating. Thunder at It carries the track w the bass
@Harveygregorxotwod9 ай бұрын
It kinda requires you to kinda have a pallette in different genres and stuff for you to appreciate the soundscape and the layering. I think one of the main reasons people love Forest Hill’s drive so much is it’s a starter pack album. It’s not super subversive or ambitious so that’s why a lot of new hip hop fans prefer it over the masterpiece that is tpab

Idk how Cole can seriously listen to The Blacker The Berry, Institutionalized, momma, alright, king kunta and call this album sleepy in any way when Cole tried his hardest to be inspired by this album.

deadass, how do you release 2 boring ass albums and then come out and say tpab is a sleeper lmao. KOD and The Off Season were fucking garbage let's be real, most forgettable albums JCole has released.
@mocapcow29339 ай бұрын
@@mulanomula my problem with Cole is that he wants to be conscious so bad, this lyrical rapper, but he’s at his biggest and what he considers his best, when he does pop rap. And most of his features now are him just talking about being the best rapper. The only time he tried having a message and being conscious, it is unanimously his worst album (KOD). He’s trying too hard to come off as conscious and trying his hardest to come off as mainstream.

This is an album that just grows with time and more listens. It’s so deep that you’ll start connecting more and more things. Also, before TPAB, Kendrick released a studio version of “I”. It was so different than his sound on GKMC that a lot of people didn’t know what to think, or even disliked it because it was different. It’s a song about self love, happiness, etc. and the crowd devolving/being interrupted by a fight is symbolic of the message falling on deaf ears to the people who need to hear it the most.

Its a strong statement, of truth and also his character, probably why he put this verison of the "i" song in rather than an original song of the "i"

I’m only making this comment seven minutes in so if you already came to the realization of what I’m going to say or in any way differ, I totally understand. Don’t come for me. Lol I’m only 31 so I’m right in that weird space between Young and being an old head. As someone who listens to many genres of hip-hop takes a special pedigree for someone to be able to fuse jazz and funk in their music correctly. I just watched your video where you listen to the Damn album. if you ask me, that’s more introspective than Mr. morale. Pimp a butterfly is very much a religious piece dealing with morality, his opinions on being black and black from a hands on perspective. Kendrick Lamar has a very heady way rapping, kinda if you know, you know. Even the title of King Kunta is reference to Kunta Kinte from the movie Roots, a tv to film adaptation about slavery.
