I agree. The “clickbait” , “shock value”, whatever you want to call it is strong as hell. And the fact that they (espn) knows that, sucks. Only reason why I’d like to hold ESPN accountable as opposed to KZbinrs who do the same is because we traditionally have come expect professionalism and honest takes from them. Especially if some of these guys are athlete who’ve played in the leagues we enjoy to talk about. But when KZbinrs, who are mostly made up of vans of some of these athletes take it more seriously, it’s pretty disappointing and annoying.

A lot of coaches in multiple sports didn't play pro yet they are great coaches. A top #5 soccer coach (Jose Mourinho) never made it pro, yet he is one of the best tacticians and understands the game insanely well. Analysts have an easier job than coaches, so it's easy to see why people can be analysts if they understand the game well enough

I'm glad you brought up the controversy thing toward the end. Between 2018 and now nothing has changed in Lebron's career outside of stat totals, as they should. But somehow in that span of time the media topics have went from Lebron has went from "Is he a top 5 player of all-time" to "Is he the GOAT" - why does no one call them out on this? Is it because of the context of the times? Maybe they were playing up The Last Dance's release? Stirring up conversation with the current best player? Like, I really don't get it - well, I do get it from a journalism point of view, I guess. But seeing people change their opinions in sync with these media broadcasts hits me in the stomach.
