The rewriting of history is really starting to irritate me. This effort to protect Drake at all costs will hurt Kendrick. I warned that the hip hop industry will try and destroy Kendrick Lamar. Drake is too big to fail and all these industry folks and rappers are running to protect him. They are rewriting history to protect Drake and help save his career. And they will take down Kendrick Lamar. I am praying that he not perform Not Like Us or any of the diss tracks during the Grammy's or the Super Bowl. I fear there will be a major backlash against him if he does this. It's really very sad, but I'm seeing the anti-Kendrick Lamar hate machine revving up. Kendrick is too much of a threat.

1:45:16 i really don't understand this take about 4:44 being the blueprint for Morale. I feel like Morale was just a natural extension/progression for Kendrick. All of Kendricks albums are centered around him dissecting himself, his place in the world, society/etc. He has always exhibited vulnerability. Morale was just a deeper dive. I remember 4:44 was characterized by how mature it felt but did it really delve into the topics of therapy and trauma like morale? Was it even as vulnerable as Damn?
@ArmLegLegArmHead47Ай бұрын
On 4:44 Jay talks about his infidelity (especially with White women), family trauma (his Grandfather being a Preacher who touched his kids), his Mom being a lesbian and hiding that fact for decades. This is very much in the same vein as Mr. Morale and Kendrick even said that Jay "took the cape off on 4:44", just like Kendrick did on Mr. Morale

Dang, I missed one hell of a hilarious show this past Saturday. Jeremy's timing and jokes are getting pretty good. Canadian people time and Hed with the melodies had me rolling. Hed shouting out baggy/frumpy clothing and the Bay Area was dope. Both of those definitely deserve more shine, and I'm not just saying that just because I'm a husky brother from the South Bay. Even Elliott had me laughing baggin' on 3 Stacks' flute album. Also, the video editors/effects people definitely deserve props for the assists throughout the show. The chipmunk mode Elliott crash out recap during the accountability section was a nice touch. Going back to the flute album, it's really wild that it was nominated for AOTY. All though I think Sabrina Carpenter will take that category. I also want to second Jeremy's sentiment on Schoolboy Q getting snubbed. Blue Lips was too good to be completely ignored like it has. And, the either Doechii or Schoolboy Q nomination stuff doesn't play. If you have a record label dominating like TDE is then it is what it is and nominees should reflect that. Also Jeremy's picks for Best Rap Album should have been exactly what was nominated. I do think Kendrick should win at least 1 award if not all 5. I think 3 is nice a compromise. My guess is that if he were there then his speech would be a mix between H-Dot's and J-Dot's. 😆 Sidenote, the new set is fire. It is well lit, and the sound is great. One last thing, who is this Justin that Jeremy went to the Backstreet concert with matching shirts with? It's not Hunte is it? Enquiring minds want to know. 😉

1:43:49 - Elliott is totally right. *4:44* was such a culture shifting album, and a blueprint for such vulnerability. The difference between Hov and Kendrick is age. Hov's peer group isn't in the same position as Kendrick's, overall, so I think the effects of *Mr. Morale* hit faster and harder because Kendrick's peer group is occupying the majority of Hip-Hop right now. *4:44* opened that door up, though, and (as Jeremy said) brought a lot of honesty back to the game.
