@@KenIMakeIt To make his ankle joints tighter use rejuvenate shine refresher it's liquidly so use a syringe or precision tip applicator, weirdly enough it dries matte, try not to use too much or the joints will get to tight. I like to leave figures between 12 to 24 hours before posing the figure.

If you wanted a "glowing" effect.. I would have done the cybernetic lines in metallic silver, then used a cardinal red around the edges of the red areas(like creating a small radiant), & then covering the whole area in a transparent red(such as testers model masters acrylic transparent red).

I love how you mentioned how "metallic" he looked after you finished, cuz in the comics, 2099's suit is actually metallic micro-fiber. But (after bulking up) for atsv, they decided to make his suit act more like a digital hologram, which I love

Hey, handpaint texture artist here :D It's true that cell-shading is really tricky to do on the movable figurine/model - so I would advise to try next things, especially when you're new to cell-shading textures/painting: 1) Try not to think that much about the light, but about the shapes that you want to exaggerate - it's not that bad to break the light logic, but it's way worse when the shape/bodypart looks off because of the texture 2) It's waaaaaaay more clearer if your imaginary lightsourse shines from front-above the figurine - we subconsciously kinda espect that lover parts of the body/bodypart/object will be darker than the top, so it's way easier to make it make sense, especially from different angles - besides, it's symmetrical, so it would be easier to perform 3) As the back is also important, imagine the second light going from back-above the figurine (so, the darkest parts will be on the sides) 4) The biggest part of handpaint texturing is not shadows, but Ambient Occlusion - basically, the most important parts to make contrast are pits/curves, where light will struggle to get to from any angle (like armpits, joints ect) - start from them, and make them the most prominent 5) Artistic tricks, like lines/crosshatching may help to "sell" the work, as if everything was intended just like this from the start Hope that helps! :D

Honestly, I think you could do some really cool stuff with Spider-Punk. In addition to adding brush strokes to give the impression of that scribble overlay and some cel shading-style bright highlights, you could glue some bolt-shaped cardboard cutouts to his guitar as if they're coming out of it. Giving him a cardboard backdrop contoured to his body might be a bit too much and too hard to pull off in 3D, but it could be worth a try for the photoshoot (you could even make different cutouts for different poses). And if the end result looks messy, that fits the punk aesthetic even more. You could even craft him some paper amps to go with him. I feel like I'm backseating a bit too much with these suggestions, but you have what it takes to pull them off.

If you're interested in spraying in door I made a cheap spray paint ventilation thing. Used a cardboard box with a hole in the back that I put an intake fan on. Put it on so it sucks the fumes out of the box and not blowing air in it. Then I used a dryer hose thing and put it on the fan and ran it out a window. Fan has to be pretty powerful but it's very effective so you can spray indoors. A small amount anyways but it's an idea! And doesn't cost much at all

In my experience with fixing loose figure joints, you should try to disassemble the foot and take out the joint, put nail polish on the peg that goes into the part you feel is loose. Once it's dry (Give it a few hours) put it back in I usually work with PVC ABS figures, so I can heat them up and soften the plastic with hot water for easy disassembly, so im unsure if you can take it apart as easily with Marvel Legends, I would still try heating it up with a blow dryer or hot water *Although you may have to repaint parts of the figure if you didn't give it a strong top coat/finish

Really excellent work on this Ken! I did wonder why this video took a while to release, as you teased it a while back, but it's because you went back to fix the figure. I appreciate that, you weren't happy with your work and made it better! The cel shading looks so good! You could try this out on some G1 inspired Transformers figures and see what magic you can create 😁 Also, to fix the loose ankle, apply a couple of drops of pledge floor polish (make sure it's the polish, not the cleaner), then work the joint around, and after an hour, the joint will stiffen up. You can also use the polish as a gloss varnish to seal paint. I think every customiser needs some Pledge floor polish, it's so versatile!

Hey Ken! I really appreciate you committing to the idea for the cel shading and giving it a shot! One cool technique I've seen people do for painting figures with cel shading is to shine a flashlight over your figure from wherever you want the imaginary light source to be, then painting where the shadows naturally fall. It seems like a great way to help visualize where the shading needs to be before putting paint down and locking yourself in

well actually more black would have brrn fine, also in the movie they tried to make it closer to what the original comics looked like since technically spiderman 2099 was actually depicted as black with blue highlights but people liked the blue and also some thought that it was blue and the shadows erer the black parts, either way since both blue and black are accurate depending on the artwork you choose both are correct

hey ken, i wanna say if you do cell shading, you have to really go in for it, what youre looking for is contrast, you want all the colors to seperate, it would also be nice if you added highlights, i would suggest taking pictures of the figurine from different angels and using those to determine how the light and shadow should look

Tightening up loose joints is tough, I have a bottle of Pledge Furniture Polish I've been using for a decade, just a toothpick tipsworth of that stuff on a joint, then worked back and forward for a bit, tightens it up nice!

Cel shading ideas: the regular blue color but with some kind of shadow/darkness absorbent/seeking paint or really dark blue paint that either changes to a lighter blue with light/heat or really dark blue that absorbs light to make it lighter but not in small quantities but when hit directly by a strong light it turns to the regular blue. And please don't correct me if those kinds of paints don't exist

you could enhance it even further with referencing hot toys panel lines on the blue and recreate it with holographic paint or pearl finish paint (usually on motor cycle canned spray paint) and paint it on the marvel legends. it is a bit tedious, but trust me, if you do it, both marvel legends and hot toys will have 0 differences.

For the weak ankles there are several ways to fix it. One of the ways is to use varnish in the joints (you have to dose it right but it's not hard). Type in google "how to fix marvel legends joints". There's plenty of tutorials online. As for spiderman 2099, great work ! He looks even more dangerous. I find the circuitry lines awesome the ways you did it. They mentionned the futurist artist Sid Mid as an inspiration for the 2099 world (with visble drawing lines and sharp angles)

I think the the one that you could kind of do justice is the spot. I know, it sounds like you wouldn't need to do anything because he is just white with black spots, but he has those blue lines that look like the pre sketch underneath. ( i have no idea how to word that) Also i noticed how his spots look like ink and on the real figure they are just black. maybe if you did some light grey around the spots or a black wash around the black spots it would look more screen accurate.
