Well, it's refreshing to see that those beavers are incredibly good at what they do! With nothing more than sticks and mud they built what looks like a 6-foot damn which was holding back an immense amount of weight. That's impressive!

Not only that, it doesn't take them very long to do it either, post10 is always clearing beaver dams and sets up trail cameras. They build dams up over night. Thet dam probably didn't take them but a few nights to build. Never seen a human built dams middle stay up after the sides failed.

How do they manage downstream water levels? How much power do the dams produce? Jamming sticks into the mud until they hold back water is more of a "keep trying til something works" method of design, it's not really engineering. But it is cool.

He is positioned to have a route out, on the left bank (from his perspective), Also, the depth and how far in the mud goes in a dam is helping him . The boots part of waders are anchored in the mud, he is trying to create cuts in the mud, with his own weight and rake, so the water will not quite level but can flow better.
