Beavers dam that makes real damage to the road and culvert. I met farmer there who is hunter too. He said that he will wait for those beavers to eliminate them. If they will stay here for a long time, they will make huge negative impact for the road.
Enjoy the video;)

American Beavers weigh 55 pounds and they are basically a Giant flat tail rat. Just think of a large dog in size. Then, consider that they move entire TREES into the water to place them. Mantis, you must be part goat because you are so sure-footed jumping around those rocks. (Thank goodness Roberta looks like Momma and not Goat Daddy. 😅) Seriously, how much weight can one of those flat tailed water squirrels move. Some of those rocks look to be over 10 kg each. This was a very orderly built dam also with layers of vertical and alternating horizontal sticks. From the scraping noise, there seemed to be a large number of rocks incorporated into this dam. They are amazing little flat tailed water rat engineers. I can guarantee you pissed them off removing this damn Hug Elfa. What does she want for Christmas this year?

consider that on may cousin's property they regularly drop 16 to 24 inch trees. then they pull them into the water where they can move them easily. The problem is that my cousin has a LAKE and they are destroying it, trying to fill it with sediment so the water will spread out. Funny too, there is a lowland that they could work in forever, but they don't like that area because it floods.

"The road's collapsing!" I saw that coming. If no one fills the hole with some gravel and soil/sand, the erosion will speed up and it won't be long before the road becomes impassable. Yes, the complete culvert needs to be replaced, but in the meantime someone should try to slow the erosion. I saw plenty of rocks in the channel there. An old friend, who had beaver issues year-after-year, told me that putting a little dishwashing detergent (liquid) upstream will chase the beavers away, since the soap would wash away the oils in their pelts. Just an idea; however, getting rid of all the beavers will be an issue for your channel, no?
@davelister2
@davelister2 9 ай бұрын
I’m not sure what the legalities are but just in my mind doing this would fall under animal cruelty laws, would the soap wash off and the natural oils replenish themselves? Yes, but still not the most humane way, just trap and relocate them.

i think all the dams are relatively young, here in Canada we have dams over 100 years old and you do not take them apart in 30 minutes. i also think beavers are known to carry mud and stones on their tails to move them to the dam, i also feel Kenislovas is right in that the farmers do not pay enough attention to the canals that regulate the water, if they let the canal overgrow with trees the beavers will take advantage.

Here in the USA, in the Southern States like Louisiana, Mississippi sometimes guys like yourself taking out Beaver Dams run into Alligators as they moved up and down the creeks and drainages.
