These are very info for anybody who wants to get rich. Unfortunately, most people who will watch this video will not really be able to apply the knowledge embedded in it.we may not want to admit, but as warren buffett once said, investing is like any other profession, it requires a certain level of expertise. Not surprise that some people are losing a lot of money I'm the bear market, while others are making hundreds of thousands in profit. I just don't know how they do it . I've got $150k set aside to put in the market

Understanding personal finance and investing will most likely lead to greater financial independence. By being knowledgeable about money and investing, individuals can make informed decisions about how to save, spend and invest their money. You're absolutely right about the power of compound interest and the long-term potential of investing in index funds like the S&P 500. For many, passive investing in broadly diversified funds can be a reliable strategy over time.

1:30 I kinda disagree with this explanation here. The insurance company doesn't grow it with the intention to pay you your money back one day. They instead hope that you won't crash it. Which means that they can keep the money. And if they can grow it on top of keeping your money, it means even more money for the insurance company. However, within the context of pension funds this explanation would make more sense. They have to pay your money back one day. Inflation reduces the value of that money. So, to not only earn some money themselves, but also protect their clients money, they try to grow it.
@cristianro8428 Жыл бұрын
Nope. Insurance companies KNOW people are going to have claims. There is no "hope" in their metrics and analysis of claims history. However, they aspire for 2 types of growth: 1. Organic growth, which is extremely hard to accomplish. Also called underwriting growth, which is basically collecting more money in premiums than what is paid in claims. 2. Inorganic growth, which is what Kenji explained. For simplicity, his example is more than valid, which basically assumes AMCs take a pool of investment money and place it into very secured (and slow-growth) investments (usually government bonds) AMCs can look after these for a long time.

@tube.brasil Жыл бұрын
An important distinction is that AM companies can work with retail products for individuals and services for institutional clients. For example, Citicorp doesn't work with retail. Schwab is mostly retail. They are very different areas, products and approaches.

@NomadLovesUs2 жыл бұрын
Asset management is more institutional so won’t directly be managing money of individuals such as HNWIs and UHNWIs unless through an intermediary/wholesaler/distributor. HNWIs and UHNWIs relate to wealth management and private banking. When we talk about asset management, the clients are typically insurance companies, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, foundations and endowments, and charities. You might also have direct corporate clients (S&P 500 companies).

I'm thinking of a career in AM, but the question I'm asking myself is whether asset managers actually provide any real value. Something like 80-90% of asset managers underperform the market in the long run. What's your take on this? I'm not sure I'd be comfortable pursuing a career where I don't provide any real value...
@KenjiExplains3 жыл бұрын
Well not all asset managers have the goal of outperforming the sp500 say. Many are about diversification for instance. Others like venture capital add a lot of value when they hit a homerun funding Facebook say. Its a massive field and there’s a bit of everything!

As a current hotelie, I’m curious about how hotel asset management is different from investment banking asset management. Do u have any ideas on this?
@KenjiExplains3 жыл бұрын
Sure, they both have the same goal of generating returns but there's a few differences (I'm simplifying a little here): - Investment banking AM is typically more "passive" about buying and selling assets without actually influencing them individually (like buying and selling stocks for instance). - Hotel Asset Management: more hands-on approach to maximising rooms, F&B, and spa revenues. Typically a much smaller number of assets that they own as well.
