In this front office part of an IB, you have divisions such as Market (sales&trading), IBD, private wealth management. asset management. 2:25 there arealso pure-play asset management. It simply means managing large sums of money on behalf of your clients, in order to get a return over the long run. It invests money into the financial markets and expecting a positive return. 3:10 Asset managements clients are large institutions who have lots of money. could be pension funds, insurance company, sovereign wealth funds, and charities. 3:30 Pension fund/ scheme: in each months for pension pots. for retirements. However, due to inflation and currency fluctuation. so it needs to invest into financial markets. 4:30 give it to Pimco or blackrock, or JP morgen asset management. Die Pacific Investment Management Company, LLC (Pimco, Eigenschreibweise PIMCO) ist eine der Allianz gehörige Investmentgesellschaft mit Sitz in US. 5:10 the large sum of money from insurers need to be mitigated by investing. ... so that all those insurance contracts came into play. 5:40 sovereign wealth funds are large pools of money owned by governments. at present, it's not the best time to invest. 6:15 three roles that inside an asset management. first, distribution, second, investment, and third, support. distributions: sales, marketing, and event. relationship manager -- they bring the money back. 6:40 the investment: the portfolio manager, traders, research analysts: ideas and ways to invest. 7:05 the support team: compliance, legal, HR, finance, which are more back office. opposed to client-facing role. 8:15 what does the investment professional put the money in? Asset classes. 5 key asset classes: fixed income, equities, alternatives, multi-asset, and quant. each has different risk profiles. some easier to access, some are riskier, some are cheaper. 10:20 sales channel/ distribution channels split by regions: EMEA, UK, Benelux, nordics, US, APAC. 11:00 liase with the UK sales team. 11:45 the hours in IB is crazy: 16-20 hours a shift. and in AM is about 10-12 hours. support function can be around 9-10 hours. 12:15 when you work on deals, or client work. in summer the hours will be shorter. because clients are in holiday and naturally less work. last 2 things before we wrap up.
