When she sings, "I would rather feel alive with a child-like soul," and her voice starts to break. Man. That just hits so hard.

As a son of Ireland I must correct you on a technicality - the Nords invaded PART of Ireland...not the whole of. We have a proud history of resistance and turning back invaders (before the English succeeded entirely), so it does matter that you Yanks leard that neither the Roman Empire under several Cesars, nor France, Spain, Germania, Nords nor the Saxons over 1500 years of assault had ever sucessfuly conquered Ireland. And we were amongst a handful of British colonies that fought and won our independence against overwhelming force. And soon we will be whole, as Brexit is such a muck-up that it opens the door for an Irish referedum to leave the UK. Scotland also is vying for a new referendum. In 10 to 20 years, Ireland will be whole again and the Celtic nations will have finally reclaimed full independence from British rule. Nearly a thousand years in the making.

So the venue is in Nidarosdomen cathedral in Trondheim. It took a great deal to green light this concert. The choir is “Oslo Faggot choir” (yes, this is the real name of the choir and they sell out every concert they have, impossible to get tickets) which is very symbolic in itself! I love Aurora.

There was a book I read a long time ago that was about these beings that would control dreams. Their job was to take all of the artistic things out of the minds of the individuals on earth so that they could only think about things that would help them thrive in our materialistic world. But one of the dream beings went into a girl's mind when she was sleeping and found her dreaming about singing with a beautiful voice. While he was supposed to erase that dream, he listened and watched in wonder and became curious as to why someone would want to eliminate such a beautiful desire. So he let her have that dream and she woke up singing and singing and felt real true happiness. The story is longer than that and I am sorry that I do not remember the name of the book. But, the girl in the book reminded me of Aurora. Thank you for reading lolz.

"A beguiling purity about her voice" is a great way to describe it! AURORA really does pull you in, and transport you to the realm of the song. Really enjoyed your reaction! I recall that Ireland was invaded by the Vikings just before 800 AD (through about 1000 AD), and this cultural influence was assimilated, so perhaps this at least partially explains the apparent Celtic/Norse aspects felt in AURORA's singing. Just a thought.

Aurora simply has performance superpowers. There is a magnetic charisma in every gesture and these gestures are an essential component of the brilliance of the lyrics she writes. Listening to Aurora is very special but witnessing her perform live is another level entirely. You have seen her at the Nobel concert 2015 and now Nidarosdomen 2017, so, take a look at the ethereal magic of the HAIK concert 2019 in the forest where Aurora played as a child. The standout performances I think are "The River", "Daydreamer" and "The Seed" all very different songs compared to this one. You will also see her development as an artist over that time span and her increased confidence and the joy she gets from performing.

You are so completely right about the holding of the silent moment before applause in the end. Imagine a 15 second pause for the people in the audience in the cathedral...the sounds and emotions just hanging there under the beautifully lit arches. The venue is so appropriate for Aurora...the sounds just flow out of her, she fills the space. What is her music? Some kind of hi-art theatrical performance, seems to be a category all its own. And she carries that performance on her slender soldiers and demands attention, she makes pleading proclamations.

An outstanding vocalist who is channeling an inspirational power she seems very sensitive to. To me she comes acros as a musical medium, literally. It goes above and beyond a tune, a song, a composition. There is this ethereal layer that appears, fades and re-appears again. The second time it is easier to recognise and experience, because it is repetitive. It makes me hunger for more. And then comes the vocal part that swirls around like a flock of starlings showing off their superior flying skills at dusk.... it just makes me melt and drop my jaw. And to finish this performance with that strong extended note, beautiful! Aurora is an artist that makes me immediately follow her in her captivating storytelling. She's got me.

As an Irish woman myself I certainly went on a journey with her. Aurora sounds a little like Delores O'Riordan from the Cranberries. (May God Rest Her Soul).. I'd love to see Aurora live! Isn't this the same vocalist that was featured in the Frozen movies. Norway and Ireland have strong connections via the Vikings.

I also want to throw Anneke van Giersbergen into the mix again, because ever since you reacted to The Gathering I‘ve been so curious what you think of her matured voice. Yes, this song and performance is something of its own, and thank you for each and every nice word, which were many and well deserved. Aurora's stage presence is enormous. And she has this choir behind her, but she also has Silja Sol, who is now her regular back up singer. Together they are magical. As for her singing style/influences: I find it deeply rooted in Norwegian/Scandinavian/Nordic tradition, but I guess Irish/Celtic tradition is more widely known. Anyway - it gets to you, so your sigh and head shaking at the end was so typical. Nice!!!

I trult enjoy your reactions and ut is difficult not to love Aurora!😊 The Haik concert is truly amazing in every aspect. Part of a TV show about Aurora where the journalist takes her for a hike (haik in Norwegian). The documentary is facinating, a novel and original concept and format where the whole day is arranged for Aurora, endin in with a concert in a magical forest with a sound that is just incredible. To songs; the Seed and Daydreamer that represents other sides of Aurora, more upbeat, more power than the songs you have reacted to so far. Also Murder song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) from the 2015 Nobel Peace Price concert with Aurora, a guitar and male vocal spellbinding a very large audience!

First quality reaction! And what an Artist...... The next Aurora song is a stange suggestion by me.... becase it is not a favorite for me.... The off video for Exist for Love Why: the sound on the video are the original sound of the first take. It is normaly don't used, and she say that it is far from perfect vocaly, but the feeling in it is so good that she wanted to use it. The video is a convid video: taking what they had, making it by hand. Like the headpice: she took every pearl she could find from her old clothes and made it.... 3-4 days work! The dancers are some friends of her...... The song is an sweet as sirup with extra sugar on it.... not my thing normally..... She said that she felt the world (fans) needed a song that was pure light/love in these dark convid times...... It woud be interesting to hear your anslyses...

I was fortunate enough to hear her sing this in concert, and by the end of it, almost everyone in the audience was moved to tears. At the end, we forgot to clap and just stood there in silence for what felt like a very long time. It was an incredible moment."
