My only other thought: sending prayers to my vocal teacher from a few years ago when i rocked up to the first lesson and showed this as my goal HAHA

I’ve heard words like math rock but its under the ‘vocaloid’ umbrella - which doesnt really say much because vocaloid is just a software so any artist from any background and genre can jump in. Niru kajitsu’s stuff is so iconic, so many artists have cultivated their own sounds, so it gets hard to use ‘vocaloid’ usefully haha

Thank you Ken...the legend of Fairuz includes as well the legend of her husband and btother in law and son - the three of them are genius musicians and did built an empire of wonderful music and theater !!!!!!❤❤❤many believe-and i'm one of them - that the Art of Rahnani's and the voice of Fairuz do have divine and spiritual elements and many pple in arabic world sincerely think that Fairuz is not "human". Once u listen to Fairuz, you can nomore let of it : it must be either magical or spiritual..there couldn't be a third possibility 😅

You should watch their performance at a small bar in Philly. I think it was taken in '91 or '92. It was top-notch!

This song was sang in 1980s during the Lebanese war, so maybe before that Spanish song, maybe. Here is the translation: To Beirut From my heart salutations to Beirut And kisses to the sea and the houses To a rock that looks like an old sailor's face She (Beirut) is a wine made of people's spirit From people's sweat she's bread and Jasmine So how did her taste turn into the taste of fire and smoke verse لبيروت To Beirut مجدٌ من رمادٍ لبيروت A glory of ash to Beirut From the blood of a boy carried on her hand My city has turned off its lamp أغلقت بابها Closed its door أصبحت في المساء وحدها Stayed alone in the evening وحدها و ليلُ Alone with the night verse أنتِ لي أنتِ لي To me To me أه عانقيني أنتِ لي Ah Hug me you are to me My banner and tomorrow's stone and my travel wave My people's wounds have flowered The mothers' tears have flowered You are Beirut to me أنتِ لي You are mine

As great as this is, she absolutely crushed this song when she was 12 years old and she got a new microphone as a gift so she sat down on the sofa and casually created one of the finest versions you’ve ever heard

Even I don't understand arabic, l have a playlist of faïrouz for more than 4 hours and I listen to her songs everyday. When I work, l love to have her voice to help me think. I am french and in France, Faïrouz is a star or more. Even when Macron went to Lebanon for officiel visit, he asked Faïrouz, if she wanted to meet him. Because now Faïrouz is having quiet live, out of all artistic and public activitis. She is a Lady with all respects. Albert Fan from Paris France

Western music makes you tap your feet, but Indian classical music resonates in your mind and soul. You find yourself subconsciously nodding your head, completely immersed in the divinity of Raga-based compositions. What do you think? Jai Hind 🇮🇳

I suddenly start to think that her voice sounds so mysterious and different because she controls her voice so perfectly that she can sing slightly out of tune just about anywhere she likes and then return to normal intonation and because it's so controlled, it's not perceived as weakness or mistake. It neither sounds like it's a kind of system that a western singer could easily learn and duplicate.

I’m 71, I remember when the musical came out. I played that LP almost constantly. Sang along with it. Then the movie came out. Wow! Ted Neeley was fantastic. He did a live performance of this song on the 50th anniversary. He sounded amazing. Dan is the only singer that can compare to Neeley. I felt so much more emotion from Dan’s performance, he grabs you and takes you in to the character. Thanks for all you insight Ken!

Hi : You reacted to Bella Taylor Smith " Ave Maria" on the voice global. You must absolutely review the Final performance on the Voice Australia singing the "Prayer" with Guy Sebastian her coach. Bella went on to win the Voice Australia that year. This is insane with power and purity. Would love to hear your take on it after being impressed with her vocal range. Thanks and welcome from Australia. Love your truely professional comments. Very real and concise. Love what you do.

I always go back to listening to this band. I especially love the Theater sessions they did. His voice puts me in a mood that is hard to verbalize, but it’s something akin to peaceful thoughtfulness. If you feel like listening to more, then I’ll be here to watch!
