As someone who is proficient at math, I just wanted to clarify what Godel's incompleteness theorem showed. Basically, it found that any logical system capable of supporting arithmetic would always have unprovable but "true" statements. To elaborate, any logical system has some axioms upon which the entire edifice is constructed, and the result shows that there will exist statements which cannot be proven false but that cannot also be proven true. To oversimplify a bit, false statements are provably so; as such, we usually refer to these statement which can neither be proved false nor true as true, but then they must be appended as an additional axiom.

Not a believer, but understand the reasons people believe. Reading the words of Albert Camus years ago really struck me in regards in not needing to take the leap of faith. We find ourselves in a universe that is indifferent, yet I find meaning in this life and don't believe in the here after. As for atheism, I feel it has as much validity as deism, but rather I would simply say, "I don't know." When it comes to theism, one ought to take each claim individually. Was Jesus a historical figure? I say it is likely. Did he walk on water? Certainty not as it is not supported by physical science.

The point of any miracle is that it transcends the limits of empirical experience whether long ago (which can't be verified empirically in anyway) or yesterday or tomorrow. There are many instances of things occurring that do no follow the ordinary laws of experience. Science can't disprove such events but must admit it cannot explain how it happened or why.
@ToMBrlcKeR9 сағат бұрын
@ Historians argue all the time about events. We cannot say with absolute certainty that a given event happened. What we can say is how likely or unlikely something occurred based upon available evidence. Unfortunately, we have absolutely no contemporaneous evidence of Jesus’s existence. The gospels were anonymous and written decades after Jesus’s death. One aspect of the Christmas story is when Jesus was actually born. Was it during the census in 6-7 AD as in Luke or was it before when Herod the Great’s Massacre of the Innocents was alleged to have taken place in Matthew? These claims are contradictory and ought to be addressed.

Faith will survive because it is not based on evidence. Subjective projection of need and desire in response to anxiety.

Lately, when I hear it said, "God can't be proven by science." Sure. Now show me the scientific metric to prove your Mom loves you... That you love your children.
@DanielGarcia-rx3kt13 сағат бұрын
My mom is real and her actions are observable. Don't have kids but the metrics are similar. For God you can't observe anything. Pretty straightforward if you ask me, Jordan Peterson.

Okay? I can bring my mother to you and let you ask her if she loves me. She can show you her love for me with a hug. She can give you explanations of things, wants, and desires she had given up to spend time with me as a child or to make sure that I was taken care of. We can see how I’ve been raised and through my actions what a loving mother can bestow upon her now adult child. Please do the same for your god.

No one can disprove the exitance of fairies in my garden. But only a fool does not believe those fairies exist. Faith is always a better reason, for anything, then evidence. Faith can even overcome clear evidence to the contrary . AI can't beat that logic ....amirite
@DanielGarcia-rx3kt13 сағат бұрын
AI can lie so it can potentially simulate it. We're giving them the materials to do so. Since faith doesn't require that you believe the objective truth is why lying AI may eventually be able to simulate faith and religion.

*The irony of Atheism* - - is that it needs God to exist in order to prove that God doesn't exist. It's a bit like leaning one's argument against a wall - they claim does not exist.
@Cthulhusreef6 сағат бұрын
Not sure what argument you’re talking about. Atheism isn’t “there is no god”. Atheism means “I don’t believe there’s a god”. Simply put, I have yet to find sufficient evidence to support the claim “god exists” to be true. You claim a god does exist, I ask for the evidence, I haven’t been shown sufficient reason to believe so I say I don’t believe you. As Ricky Gervais once said “You deny one less god then I do. You don’t believe in 2,999 gods and I just go one god more.” If you have a good reason to believe in a god I’m all ears.
@PaxAlotin6 сағат бұрын
@@Cthulhusreef Atheism is the absence of belief in the existence of deities, or the rejection of the belief that any deities exist. Atheists may believe that gods are man-made constructs, myths, or legends, or that the concepts of gods are not meaningful - hence my use of the wall as an analogy - fits.

Exactly. The only time I ever think about it is when a video like this comes up telling me that I am obsessed with something. More like they are obsessed with wanting me to be obsessed about the imaginary being that they believe to be real.

The money has idols upon them. American Buffalo Gold Bullion Coin has an Egyptian god stamped on it. The inscription "In God We Trust" should be evident enough to confirm it. Where is the call of it being a violation of the 1st amendment? The federal government does business with dollars. This coin has "$50" upon it as well.

When was the last time you had an atheist knock at your door telling you god isn’t real? When was the last time you saw a billboard that said “take your weekends back for yourself!”? Because I’ve had people of different religions tell me I need to find Jesus, Jehovah, or follow Muhammad. I’ve seen billboards with hate speech saying things like “find Jesus (then in fire) BEFORE IT TOO LATE.” I’ve seen people with signs saying decent things like “Jesus loves you” or “pray and come to Jesus” and some horrific shit like “repent or burn!” And “fags doom nations”. We wouldn’t care about your religions if they weren’t shoved down our throats. If we weren’t told we are bound for hell. That we aren’t worthy and that we are scum or the literal devil. So yes, we speak out against religion. Not trying to force people to our views but to give information and a different thought process. We might be wrong, but until we are convinced a god exists we will continue to push back against hateful religious rhetoric

God is incomprehensible, but the image of God is easily understood. Spirit to Mind to Soul to Matter. Heaven (Soul) is the throne, and the Earth (matter) is his footstool. All things are a part of God in harmony.. and of all things that exist, only man is Spirit, Mind, Soul, and Matter..
