james oller ... did you ever see the episode of Oprah when Shrek came out. Eddie told a story that at the premiere of the movie, Eddie's daughter was sitting on his knee. When Donkey came on screen, he whispered "its daddy.. baby, its daddy" she looked at the screen and then back at him with a funny face "no, thats donkey"

Cosby hated him for one reason and one reason only. He was a threat. This man single handedly saved SNL from extinction and then performed on the Tonight Show.....all by the age of 19. Bill's ego just couldn't handle it.
@littleripper312
@littleripper312 4 жыл бұрын
Yea, Cosby hated him because he thought that what Eddie did directly competed and at the same time reflected on him because they are both black. I get that it was different times but I don't think the general public related the two of them as much as Cosby thought they did.
@WalkOnWater88
@WalkOnWater88 4 жыл бұрын
@@littleripper312 Agreed and Cosby was really focused and changing the perception of black people and felt with profanity, violence, etc...especially with Eddie's talent level that his rise would negate that effort. He was wrong but perception is reality if you believe it right or wrong it becomes your reality.

For someone who, at that point, hadn't been on stage for eighteen to come out and have five minutes that killed like that, he's still got it! And especially after his Comedians in Cars and SNL appearances, it's plain to see he's still a master of his craft. Would love to see him do a third comedy special.

Richard Pryor had me laughing so hard once, I actually passed out for a minute. I couldn't even breath. George Carlin's 7 dirty words lives on in comedy infamy. Eddie learned from the best. Bill Cosby was always on TV talking shit about Pryor and Murphy because they used profanity and all kinds of racial slurs. But they picked on *everyone*. Aint nobody that was safe. And you know what? we had a lot more harmony back then. They used to call Bill Cosby "America's dad". back then! "he would say shit like "If you can't do comedy without using profanity and using racial slurs then you don't have any talent". Look where he is now!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, but....if you're old enough to remember Pryor, Carlin and Murphy's standup, you must remember what a must-see The Cosby Show was. I know that wasn't just him, there was a wonderful cast and great writers, but still. He was pushing a very clean and positive image and everyone loved him back then. Everyone loved Murphy too. Hell, some people liked Arsenio!! Just saying don't be too judgy of Bill back in the day (I mean, apart from the rape. Judge the hell out of him for that!!)

Richard Pryor put on so many up and comers including the genius, Eddie Murphy. Murphy put on an entire generation of comedians and is still making work for other creatives in the industry. Dave Chappelle has now taken up the mantel of comedic brilliance, mentoring today's generation of comedians and artists. So wonder to see the sheer emotional intelligence it takes to read the room, the zeitgeist, the streets, and make such comedy seem so effortless that the entire world laughs.
