Richard Pryor had me laughing so hard once, I actually passed out for a minute. I couldn't even breath. George Carlin's 7 dirty words lives on in comedy infamy. Eddie learned from the best. Bill Cosby was always on TV talking shit about Pryor and Murphy because they used profanity and all kinds of racial slurs. But they picked on *everyone*. Aint nobody that was safe. And you know what? we had a lot more harmony back then. They used to call Bill Cosby "America's dad". back then! "he would say shit like "If you can't do comedy without using profanity and using racial slurs then you don't have any talent". Look where he is now!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, but....if you're old enough to remember Pryor, Carlin and Murphy's standup, you must remember what a must-see The Cosby Show was. I know that wasn't just him, there was a wonderful cast and great writers, but still. He was pushing a very clean and positive image and everyone loved him back then. Everyone loved Murphy too. Hell, some people liked Arsenio!! Just saying don't be too judgy of Bill back in the day (I mean, apart from the rape. Judge the hell out of him for that!!)

Richard Pryor put on so many up and comers including the genius, Eddie Murphy. Murphy put on an entire generation of comedians and is still making work for other creatives in the industry. Dave Chappelle has now taken up the mantel of comedic brilliance, mentoring today's generation of comedians and artists. So wonder to see the sheer emotional intelligence it takes to read the room, the zeitgeist, the streets, and make such comedy seem so effortless that the entire world laughs.

@@AnyoneCanSee In a semi-rural pocket two hours north of San Francisco. It was remarkably class/race segregated. The only black kids I "knew" were Emmanuel Lewis and Gary Coleman. Things have gotten much better. You're absolutely right, and that success extended into producing and directing as well.

Like so many others, I also grew up watching Delirious and RAW and they more than hold up today!! Eddie has always been one of my favorite Comedians and actors and he more than deserved this award. This was so damn funny and what I find equally hilarious is he gave zero F!&$! If he offended anyone or not! This woke and cancel culture bs couldn’t silence or Cancel Eddie if they tried. The man is a legend and in my view untouchable when it comes to being censored etc💯
