I've made this several times and it's always a hit! I also put the batter in small glass Pyrex cups and make it like custard and that's really good too. Your recipe and technique are simple and easy. Thank you for the education. I also appreciate your voice, it's clear, loud enough, and has that old-timey twang to it that can't be duplicated.

Hi James: my husband and I camped in Estes Park in 1967. When we were on our way home, we looked for a place to eat besides the usual hamburger chains. At a traffic light I hollered asked a taxi driver beside us if he might tell us a good place to eat lunch. He replied, “ Sure can, just follow me!”. He went straight to Fur’s! There was a beautiful grand piano which a gentleman played and we had a delicious meal. I’m sorry to learn they went out of business. I hope the Barn Door in San Antonio still going strong. Hi Kim I was happy to see your buttermilk pie recipe because I've been making this one for years. I only use a cup of sugar because for me that seems to be enough and also sometimes I make a rich homemade buttery graham cracker crust recipe and that makes it really good and special!👍🏻

I only use o e cup of sugar too. I love this pie! Its just the right light dessert to finish off a meal. You can also make this with NO pieshell! Just pour the filling into the pie dish and bake. It comes out like its in a shell. If yoh are trying to cut back on calories then this is the best of both worlds.

Agreed. I tried your version a little over a month ago as well as your crust. It was so easy. The custard was firm, aromatic and filled with lemony goodness. The crust was buttery ,flaky and perfect. I had moved out of state and was home sick. The pie made feel like my Grammy and my Ma were right with me. I must admit I cried a little. I must also admit I ate the whole thing🤭.

If you don't have buttermilk you can make it fast...to one cup of milk you add one tablespoon of either white vinegar or lemon juice and let it sit for 20 minutes and stir it before you use it......This looks delicious!! Thanks for the recipe, Ken : )
