Thanks for this upload! Wow, Trevor threw some strange punches. Kenny's managers and trainers recognized he had qualities as a fighter that could be built upon, perhaps to championship level but for a fighter like Bang Bang, who lacked the athletic gifts of speed, movement and balance, only discipline, hard work, training and conditioning would get him there. Unfortunately, that wasn't who he was. As soon as he got a taste of success, money and exposure, any dedication to the level of work required to get and keep him at the top of the rankings was gone. Reminds me of Bert Cooper, a fighter with considerable more natural gifts as an athlete, who rocketed to network notice under Joe Frazier, and who looked like the next great heavyweight after he destroyed Willie DeWitt on a national CBS boxing broadcast. Unfortunately, the $40,000 purse he made for the fight was all Bert needed to say "That's it...I made it!". He then started a rollercoaster of impressive wins and head shaking losses all attributable to lifestyle choices and a lack of discipline. That said, his natural ability put him one solid punch from knocking out Evander Holyfield for the undisputed heavyweight title. Maybe if the Mancini fight had come off, Bang Bang might have found himself in the same situation.

Like Marvin hagler once said “it’s tough to get up in the morning to run when you’re sleeping under silk sheets.

Good video, weird fight. If Evelyn had had the same energy he'd showed in the final minute in the other nine rounds, it would have been a fight worth watching.

@@RichtheFightHistorian Jiro Wantanabe would be an interesting one too. Perhaps the most evil man to ever win a world boxing championship..
