Qualifying for the exclusively Ford GT40 race at the 2013 Goodwood Revival was held under wet conditions that made the 2.4-mile Goodwood Motor Circuit a decidedly slippery mess. Swedish driver Kenny Brack, winner of the 1999 Indianapolis 500 and the 1998 Indy Racing League Champion, seemingly shrugged off the track conditions. While his hands are never still for virtually the entire lap, the 47-year old Brack took command of the powerful GT40 he shared Red Bull Racing Formula 1 engineer Adrian Newey to post the second fastest qualifying lap for the Whitsun Trophy. As a car guy, that's an amazing video. hearing Kenny talk a bit about the car and driving it was special. And from the actual driving clinic he was putting on in the rain! well that's border line insanity. It's a rare driver that truly, truly doesn't care about wrecking or preserving tires. Fabulous! I love Mr Bracks attitude to variable grip. Kenny's comment about just accepting that there are wet patches (no grip) and just driving through them while relying on the drier patches for grip, reminds me of 'off road' motorbiking down very steep, dirt/gravel hillsides. You can't brake adequately on the really loose patches, so you have to just accept that the bike will run away until you reach a grippier patch where you can (hopefully) scrub off the excess speed. Terrifying at first, especially for a sixty year old rider! However, the consequence of dropping my dirt bike is rather less financially challenging than stuffing a GT40 into a tyre barrier!!

In this video, we can see the Ford is hard to control because the track is wet. It is not given to everyone to control this GT40. Like every year, Goodwood revival shows good races with great drivers.
