What a car and I'm with Kenny, I would take a car like this with the character that comes inherent with racing cars from this era over something from today any day rain or shine. Today's cars even the so called "supercars" have no soul, no dynamism when driving, just plain numb with so many driver aids that you can teach a chimp how to drive one. That video of him from 2013 really shows how physically demanding one lap is in these cars when you're at the limit of adhesion and how one untimely flinch is the difference between staying on track or careening into the barriers.

AJFoyt I'm sure recognized a little of himself in his 1999 "500" Champion and Brack's display in the GT40 would bring back memories of his baptism of 🔥 in a GT40 at LeMans in 1967...won by "Super Tex" first time out... amazing!!!

It featured a Ford 4.2-litre (255ci) V8 and Colotti four-speed box under a sleek fiberglass body, showing good handling and "a remarkable turn of speed" for only 250 hp (186 kW), enough to put it in the running for the 1963 Vingt-Quatre Heurs du Mans until the gearbox balked and David Hobbs crashed. This performance attracted the attention of Ford, who were looking for a way to win Le Mans, and offered Broadley a two-year deal to redesign the GT, setting up Ford Advanced Vehicles, in a factory on the Slough Trading Estate; it produced the GT-40, which differed in many respects from the Mark 6, not least in using a steel chassis rather than the aluminium of the Mark 6.

Trust me, GT Sport shows its equally tough to keep these in line 😆 I drive mine with no aids and holy hell its a handful even with substantial suspension and diff adjustments to 'tame' it.

It is normal in classic racing to mandate the use of Historic tyres. These are modern tyres made as replicas i.e. to the original tread pattern and using the original construction - crossply rather than radial. This is an extract from a typical classic race series rulebook - "All cars running during qualifying and races must use Dunlop Historic CR65 L or M section racing tyres."
