This was written by Craig Wiseman, who presented the idea, and a couple co-writers. It was inspired by Craig meeting a security guard at the publishing house who had moved to Nashville from Mississippi, Craig‘s home state. He explained to Craig that they had moved to Nashville for his wife to get cancer treatment. He had since lost his wife and this inspired the story for the song. BTW, Craig is now the founder of Big Loud music, the label for Morgan Wallen, Hardy, and many other Nashville stars, and he’s still writing great songs!
