SHOUT OUT TO MY MAN KENNY DOPE. MAN, THE MEMORIES I HAVE WHEN HE WORKED AT “THE MUSIC CENTER” IN SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN, NY!!! GREAT TIMES WITH JOE (THE OWNER), ROB, KENNY, DAISY AND ISAAC AT THAT SPOT. I REMEMBER BEING AT THE STORE ABOUT 10-10:30 SATURDAY MORNINGS WAITING FOR THE STORE TO OPEN SO I CAN PICK UP KENNY’S MIXED TAPES OR BUY RECORDS WHEN I USED TO SPIN. GREAT MEMORIES MAN. KENNY DOPE IS A TRUE MASTER AT WORK!!!

I think that's because that's not with vinyl records but with Serato. And even if Kenny Dope legendary status is undebatable, this mix isn't crazy, be nuanced please.

Also - if you don't know the history of Rock & Soul records in Manhattan, you've never DJ'd in NYC. The place is - if not the best record spot - ground zero of dj'ing in the city. Its where everyone goes sooner or later for one reason or another.

Lisa Gregorio.....I miss “The Music Center”!!! I grew up in sunset park and I have so many great memories at your brothers store. Joe is a great guy, always friendly and outgoing. I used to be at the music center sometimes at 10am waiting for the store to open and for Kenny to get there so I can buy his mixed tapes and records. Miss joe, Kenny and daisy. The good old days, god bless you all.

Are you all complainers out of your freaking mind?…KD travels the world killing it with 45s, has a discography longer than… re-issues vinyl funk 45s edits, is a foremost vinyl digger, is half of Masters at Work, still gets invited to spin at the best locations in the world, AND While most DJs have abandoned Vinyl and now praise Serato for its convenience, KD - and Diamond D and Biz Markie- has no problem logging vinyl. Vinyl Djs should never ever ever have to prove to no one but themselves, specially when the weapon of choice is 45s. This is what you call using technology when needed, not because you have to! After all that experience, I'll be dammed If I ever allow anyone to bitch to me about DVS if I ever decide to go that route.

Well said -- these losers are str8 toys who don't know sh*t; they don't know the history nor the facts about who's a legend in their own time (e.g. Kenny Dope, Jazzy Jeff, Todd Terry, Louie Vega, Jellybean Benitez, Joe Claussell, Danny Krivit, Francois K, Mister Cee, Kid Capri -- Hell, even Breakbeat Lou, Chairman Mao and so on & so on… these guys are collectors, party-rockers, mix-masters etc. etc. Y'all who don't know WHASS'UP can shut the effff up & sukka dik -- Especially the dude who said he worked at Rock & Soul (Washington Hts.)…. you wanna battle? What I dont understand is how people on here talkin shit about digital dj's. Cuz Kenny Dope is usning a laptop that means he's wack?? Its called technology. Back in the days djs had to pay people to carry their crates of records. Could you imagine the music collection this man has?? He would need a whole team just to carry his vinyl. He probably has every record he owns on that ONE laptop and doesnt have to pay anybody to carry that shit for him. Obviously you can see he got skills vinyl or not.

For those complaining about Kenny using today's technology. Relax. It's called evolution. Otherwise put your smart phones away and sit home using your landline phone to make calls. Stop using the internet & start solely reading newspapers & using encyclopedias to find out what's going on. Also, start riding horses to get around as your main form of transportation, LOL.

TO ALL of the DJ on this thread that are bashing digital DJ'ING: Now first off.......I prefer vinyl 1st choice ......don't get me wrong. But let's real here......be real with everyone here ....and most all....be real with yourself!! ................................The only reason why you're disgusted with digital and timecode DJ'ing is because today's technology has made very simple for anyone and their grandmother to become a DJ now - which makes it extra hard for veteran DJs to find work..

@ NYRIKAN: KENNY DOPE is a Legend! In House, Hip Hop & Music period! Not just a DJ, but a Producer! He owns more records than you probably seen in your life! Do not get him confused with your buddy Deadmou5. Dj's use this set up because they've been carrying crates of Vinyl all their life & you have a huge playlist at hand. I love when you products of the "Machine" talk without knowing anything about anyone without "lil" or "young" in their name. As for those asking about track names- Go Dig.
@mkrs01g12 жыл бұрын
smh at the youngins trying to dis this absolute legend. It's about the flow, regardless of the tool. Because someone may not have been able to find the vinyl version of a track, are they not to be able to play it because they only have it digitally? Don't obsess over the tools, as long as you can play how you envision, the tool is just a means to an end, NOT what's important unless that tool is actually controlling your skill. If he had these tracks there in vinyl he could do the same.
