James Ingram, I can remember hearing your beautiful voice for the first time lying on my grandmother's bed. My aunt was playing her radio in the kitchen as she did dishes. I was around 8 or 9 years old and heard "Baby, come to me, let me put my arms around you this was meant to be." "And I'm oh so glad I found you, need you everyday." I fell in love! From that day I couldn't get enough of that voice! I was just telling my husband how much I missed Whitney Houston so much and now I find out this morning you are gone. Such a young age, but they say the nasty, evil cancer got you. We are losing so many of you who truly knew how to sing a love song. I love you and will miss you deeply. I always wanted to see you in concert but never got the chance. I bet you are singing in that Heavenly choir this morning. RIP and know there are thousands of us who will miss an extraordinary artist like you. See ya later!

"What About Me?" is a song first recorded in 1984 as a trio by singers Kenny Rogers, Kim Carnes and James Ingram. The song was written by Rogers, noted producer David Foster, and singer-songwriter Richard Marx, who would later achieve superstar status as a musician ("Right Here Waiting", "Now and Forever"). It was the lead single from Rogers' Platinum-plus 1984 album of the same name.

Yet, two win and one loses. That´s what the whole song is about. Talking about something is the easy part; going through the pain isn´t. I´d say the center of the song is really that a part of one dies when one makes wrong decisions. She´s leaving a one who loves her for a one who satisfies her more. Love is fair; in true love, we will always be free to go for something better. No one loses, for the one who remains alone already had a beatiful love that will remain in the heart forever. Even when we have to cry because our feelings; suffer, because of our selfishness or pride, love brings healing and new chances and blessings. No easy thing in this circumstance, for either of the three, if they really want to love.
@sdavis50014 жыл бұрын
@@rio-impetuoso4271 She is the one torn; of course the men are hurting. She sang that last line, 'what about me', after the men had been repeating it in the tug-of-war. That is true; 2 win and 1 loses. Sadly though it is she that really loses. She'll always think of the other, therefore not giving either man her entire heart. (they could both move on without her and surely find someone who is true. Leaving her alone...) [pardon the edit; spell error]
@rio-impetuoso42714 жыл бұрын
@@sdavis5001 I don´t want to hurt sensibilities. How can she be the one torn, when she decides which one of both she keeps? She´s the only one who can´t lose, no matter which way she chooses to go. Isn´t it so?
@sdavis50014 жыл бұрын
@@rio-impetuoso4271 much like everything else, each person interprets it their own view. Perhaps that's the beauty of it. Which doesn't make any "right or wrong"..... simply just how they hear it. I strongly feel she ends up losing in the end. She cannot give her whole heart to one person. IMPO, that's losing.

When music had a passionate, living, child-like soul that carried you to the ends of this universe and into the next. Music used to tell poignant stories of love, loss, anger, passion, shame, joy, sorrow, and you felt EVERY single peace of it in your body, in your spirit, like this gem here. Sadly, music in this early 2st century has lost its luster, its shine, its passion.

I see you here with me I've waited all my life For someone like you Someone to give My heart and soul to I look into your eyes Your love for me Was such a welcome surprise I think at last I've found forever But what about me (I'll always love you) Oh, what about me (I'll always need you) You were my love before But I need so much more of you Time after time I feel I'm losing my mind Or maybe this is what Lovers must go through It never entered my mind We could be wasting our time What am I gonna do What about me Oh, what about me No reason to pretend True love affairs don't Have to come to an end The moment we don't Have all the answers I nearly go insane (Oh, I go insane) Each and every time I hear you whisper my name I feel the same When I'm around you (But what about me) I'll always love you (Oh, what about me) I'll always need you This is so hard for me I wanted so much to be With you, whoa Time after time I feel I'm losing my mind Or maybe this is what Lovers must go through It never entered my mind We could be wasting our time What am I gonna do Time after time I'm losing my mind It never entered my mind We could be wasting our time But what about me

This song brings back so many memories. In 1984 I was separated from my husband of 15 years. Then after so many tears, I met someone new. Then my Ex wanted to come back. So many feelings. But I went with my heart and eventually married the "someone new." I didn't want to repeat 15 years of pain again! 💔

This song is so perfect, it is as if heaven sent it. It taps soo deeply into your physical and spiritual being. It's a song you feel in your body and soul. So beautifully sung from three amazing talents. RIP to Kenny Rogers and James Ingram. Music has lost true artists. They will be missed in an ever changing industry that seems to have lost its ability to touch people so profoundly.

Great song written by Kenny Rogers himself, with Richard Marx. They also co-wrote the chart topping single "Crazy". Both of these were big hits for Kenny.

+Paul London no wonder when I listen to it, there's sort of "Richard Marx's vibe" (?) in the song. although Kenny Rogers was famous for country songs, I think Marx and Kenny Rogers both have that same "feel" in their music that I love to listen to.
