They really are no joke!! It’s crazy that a 20 year old motor can handle this much power and be competitive to the newer cars
@mickeymang6 Жыл бұрын
I'm sure we all know, though, that the stock engine is fully forged/built from the factory. Still bad ass.
@midnight347 Жыл бұрын
Of course it is. It will stay together at this power level better than gen 2 and 3 coyotes. Those can handle alot too but they have powder forged rods they aren't as good as the cobras rods and imo it will stay alive better at this power level than they do. Turbos is also easier on the engine than blowers because they don't take power to make power. A 950 rwhp blower car will be seeing 1100+ hp worth of stress where a 950 whp turbo car sees 950 rwhp worth of wear if that makes sense. Most of the guys in thus range coyote or cobra are turbo setups because of this. A blower at 950-1000 won't stay together ww easily imo.

John Mihovetz has gone 5.88 and 256 mph with an OEM cast block and heads 4.6 4V. In addition to the oe block/heads, he also utilized the OE timing components, and factory Kellogg crank. This was done with twin Turbos running 55 psi of boost, and on the Westech dyno made a little over 3,000 hp @ 10,000 rpm. To my knowledge, that's the quickest and highest trap speed ever achieved with as much OE parts.

I had a 2003 Cobra with a Kenne Bell twin screw blower, full exhaust, subframe connectors, and big fat 335s out back. The car put down 642 rwhp and I called it my “sit-n-spin” because even at 60 mph the tires would break loose at WOT. The car was fun but it got really old not getting any traction. I went from that to a stock ‘99 FRC Corvette and it was a lot more fun because of the launch capability and lateral Gs it pulled over the Cobra.
@racequad9 Жыл бұрын
What kind of tires did you have? People seem to think just because you get a wide tire, they're going to automatically hook. But that's not the case. Also, a huge importance is psi. I knew someone that was probably making high 400s whp and couldnt hook on a decent tire. He thought his car was a factory freak and was making a ton of power. Turned out his rear tires were at almost 40 psi
@secretsquirrel572 Жыл бұрын
@@racequad9 I ran the Nitto Envo tire at 30 psi. Just no real sidewall. And the IRS in the ‘03-‘04 Cobra was a joke.

@secretsquirrel572 Жыл бұрын
@@dantubeyou1234 ET Streets? Of course it does. 😂
@midnight347 Жыл бұрын
It's because you had street tires. Being wide don't matter if it's a shit street tire. People build a car to over 600 wheel w the torque these things make and run a street tire ill never understand it. I have a gen3r 07 gt500 it put down 740/733 and even with 4.10s I can hook pretty decent in 2nd at 40ish. I can hook from 60 in 3rd easy but I have a 325/50/15 et street r on the rear because I actually want to use the power the car has and not just look at the pretty dyno sheet and say yea I got on it once it was awesome. I rip it. If you're over 500-600+ to the tire with a torque curve like these drag radials are no longer optional unless you just love the car spinning out at 60 lol.
