Thanks for sharing a project for young children. A few weeks ago, I reached out to you for some advice on my own project. My adult daughter and I worked on a project for her friends baby. We had a great time working together on this. I did the wood cutting and she did the sanding and painting. The end result looked great (thanks to your advice), the baby loved it and my daughter was really proud of the end result. The toys were made out of scrap 2x4 pine so we were able to make a whole zoo of animals for free.

I'm glad that you project worked out Jim and that your daughter was happy with the results. Sounds like this project would be perfect for a round two of "daddy/daughter" woodworking for the little ones. Thanks for tuning in to the show and taking the time to give me an update on your project. I truly appreciate it.

One of my neighbours recently reached out for some help making blocks and stackable wood shapes. Not having any tools of her own, she came to me, I showed her how to use the tools, supervised and watched her have the time of her life making something for her new borne. Should have seen her face when she completed her projects. I’ll have to show her this one and get het to make it.

I've had beginners in my shop many times to teach them how to make projects Newton and I don't know who it pleases more. Them for seeing the final product that THEY made, or me for seeing the joy on their faces and knowing that I have introduced them to something that can be a life long hobby and source of enjoyment. If you want the pattern for this project, just drop me an email and I will send it along to you. Thanks for tuning in and for taking the time to share your story. I appreciate it.

Nice work. You come up with so amazing projects. $2.50 I guess HIGH WOOD PRICES haven't made it to CANADA yet. A 1.98 2x4 stud now costs $8.79. WOW

The high lumber prices have definitely made it to Canada Karl. The difference here is that this is cheap as dirt "shelving pine" from the big box store which still sells for about $5 a board. (8"X48") so you can make one of these fairly cheaply using that material. Either way, I'm glad that you like the project. Thanks for tuning in to the show. It's very much appreciated.

This is really cool but I was wondering, I don't happen to have that machine that (essentially) punches a hole through the wood blocks. Is there anything else I could use or do?
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 5 ай бұрын
You could use a keyhole saw, a fret saw, a scroll saw, a bit and brace, a hand drill etc. There is always an alternative method. I don't know what kind of tools you have so I can't really give a suggestion that would relate directly to you. Thanks for tuning in.

Have to love the length…13 1/8. Why not just 13. Or as part of a learning tool, make it 12 inches.
