Winston points system is outdated, and the champion is determined before the end of the season. So maybe last 3 or 4 races they just drive around to finish. Jimmie Johnson won 7 championships with all formats. No matter, teams are going to figure out how to win.

Joey Logano raced his way into the playoffs with enough points to continue. Alex Bowman illegally grabbed additional points that he didn't deserve by cheating. Luckily NASCAR saw that the #48 team had cheated to give Alex additional unearned points. The #12 spot was earned by Joey Logano and was nearly stolen by a Hendrick team.

Without that advantage he would have finished the race further back in the pack, resulting in less points. By his team cheating, he ended up with more points than he should have, illegally placing him above Joey and into the championship 12.

He wasn't universally loved until he was killed and fans today have the false idea that everyone loved him when he was alive. As a matter of fact Joey reminds me of Dale Earnhardt in the way he drives, how aggressive he is on the track, how fans either love or hate him, how he really doesn't give a damn about what people think about him, and his skill at racing with 3 championships. Based on his championships Joey is one of the 10 best drivers in NASCAR history. If he wins a fourth championship he will be one of the top 5 drivers in NASCAR history.

Deserving Champion? Well he won the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship and his race team receives all that goes with that. That cannot be denied, the facts are the facts. He joins an elite group of drivers who have won three or more NASCAR championships. That is certainly a future consideration for the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The Roger Penske Racing Team competed at a very high level and their effort payed off in winning the Championship. Congratulations to the #22 team and Joey Logano.

Kenny how about this, do away with the "win and your in" before the playoffs and leave everything else the same and start the playoffs with the top 16 in points and then those 16 can advance to the next round automatically if they win in the playoff round. That way winning in the playoffs is rewarded and consistency before the playoffs is also rewarded. Just a slight tweek in the system. What you think?

Logano didn't have great numbers but he did what he could to move to the next round and then won the cup title outright. Can't make everyone happy but honestly Kenny, Logano clutch wins propel him to the championship. If people were complaining about Jimmie Johnson's cup titles because of the playoff formats, its the same case with Logano. They need to deal with it. I am glad the season is over and looking forward to the holidays and next year.

Honestly, with how this system works and how Logano has won them, I don't think we'll ever know if he is a deserving champion. I believe he is capable of putting together a 36 race season of great finishes and running up front constantly (2015) but we won't know. This format rewards the latest of season surges which is like recency bias in sports. Why should the guy who can end the season strong after a crappy start get reward immensly more over someone who started the season strong and falls off at the end of the year? This is how Logano's championships have come, especially 2024

Yeah it sucked watching FOUR drivers fighting all day to be Champion. It REALLY sucked watching the 12 and 22 in an all out battle at the end, with fractions of a second separating them for lap after lap! Oh the horror! Blaney used every ounce of his very being trying to win. He needed medical assistance after the race. Who likes THAT? Much preferable to see some cat have the Championship wrapped up 2 races before the end of the season. That's sooo exciting and will sell a LOT of tickets!

I’m old enough to remember everyone being pissed that Rowdy won a championship in 2015. And I understand why but, NASCAR set the rules for him and he played the game and blew their rules for the game out of the water. Don’t blame Logano. Blame the game. I have always hated the Chase/playoffs. No need to decide the championship in three races, just run for points over the course of 36 races. Driver with the most points wins. I don’t even really care how they get those points. But, at the end of the day, don’t blame the driver winning a championship, blame NASCAR for the rules they set.

As I remember he was out for several races and that put him down in points. I don't remember exactly what it was that Nascar did for Busch but hey Kenny give us a refresher! Thanks
