I used to work at Kennywood and when I can’t fall asleep late at night I listen to this and it calms me down and reminds me of home and a simpler time :) thank you for posting

I’m only 14, but this closing soundtrack always brought some nostalgia to me. Maybe it’s because I’ve been going to Kennywood ever since I was like 7 months old and every year I hear these songs play after another great day at this park ends. It could be a tired 3 year old me being carried by my mom or dad or present day me waking with family or friends to the exit. I just wanna say that this closing soundtrack always brought some magic to park that I feel like many other parks can’t really emulate.

I absolutely LOVE Kennywood. Never have I found a park with so much charm, style, and unique atmosphere. Not to mention their coasters are incredible. After Cedar Point, it's my favorite amusement park

okay, They really need to get rid of that swing ride at 2:08. Because it looks totally unsafe. And that pirate ride looks like a big swing that looks like fun. And what time does kennywood close? And I thought Idlewild was the first amusment park before kennywood opened.

@@dojiorangejuice2543 I think kennywood closes around either 10:00 PM or 11:00 PM at night

Hi kpdave. I grew up next to Kennywood, in a house across across the street from the white house that can be seen to the right of the wave swinger. I could hear the closing music in my room, or on the porch. My room had a direct view of the park. Lots of good memories of the park.

This takes me back to the 4 undergrad summers when I worked at Kennywood in the early 1980’s. The last “Good Night” from the “Nighty Night” song was the signal to turn off the lights on my ride. Then the forest green painted ticket can would be picked up and my ride crew would walk out together. We walked to the office near the Tilt-A-Whirl and would drop off the ticket can. It was often around 12:20 PM when the park would close (except on cold rainy days when the park may have an early close). Spending the summer outside all day would result in dark tan arms and legs but it was a classic “Kennywood” tan because your chest, back, shoulders, and feet would be pale white. Good memories.

Wonderful video. I work at the park and I absolutely love hearing Jim’s announcement and the closing songs, but not for the same reason as all the other employees :) While going home is nice, I really love the way the old jazz “interacts” with the other sounds in the park. “Adios” and the trumpet soli of “Nighty Night” come to mind. It always gives me a chill if I’m working somewhere where I can hear it. Absolutely love this place. No other park will match that special character Kennywood has.

I only moved to Pittsburgh 2 years ago and have been to Kennywood like 5 or 6 times, but there’s something so deeply warm and nostalgic about the closing music. Can’t imagine how lovely it would’ve been growing up at this park(:

This had to be 2003 or 2004. I worked in refreshments starting in 2003 when Volcano Valley was new (present in video) but before I moved to rides in 2005 and they removed tickets and general admisstion (you can see a ride sign with ticket information on the wipeout) - which leads me to believe it had to be either 2003 or 2004.

They've been using this closing sequence for longer than I can remember, probably since before I was born. As far as i'm concerned, its as much a part of Kennywood as are the rides and refreshments and everything else related to Kennywood :) .
@kpdave12 жыл бұрын
And I hope you keep hearing it for many years to come. This announcement has been used for more years than I've been alive, and I'm almost 55 now. Its a small part of Kennywood history that I hope never changes.

1) Proschai - The Limeliters 2) Adios - Unknown (this is the only song that I haven't found an actual recording for) 3) Now Is The Hour - Guy Lombardo 4) I'll See You In My Dreams - Guy Lombardo 5) Nighty Night - Alvino Rey 6) Good Night - Ted Lewis The two from Guy Lombardo I've only found on cd's. Since I have them on cd's I haven't looked to see if they are available for download. Hope this helps.

8 years late but the Adios song is by Mel Torme pretty sure
@kpdave4 жыл бұрын
Kennywood Fanboy you are correct that Mel Torme did record this song, but it’s not the one used here. I have since found this recording, it’s by the Norman Luboff Choir. It’s the exact version used here. But thank you. 👍

Hi Agentsub, the final song is called "Goodnight" by Ted Lewis. I found the full version on iTunes. If you search for it there, search for "goodnight ted lewis". Its on an album called "Sentimental Memories". There is also a version on itunes with goodnight spelled as two separate words. Its the same song but a different version than the one that Kennywood uses. That one is on an album called "Me and My Shadow" . Just wanted to let you know that there are two versions.

Crazy to think the only rides on this video is still in operation is the merry go round, the racer, the jackrabbit, the swings, Auto race, kangaroo since it reopened ;), Aero 360, thunderbolt, pirate ship, musik express, phantoms revenge, Noah’s ark, and the Pittsburgh plunge because the rest closed.

People have been looking for the name and artist of the second song in the medley: it's "Adios," by the Norman Luboff Choir.
@kpdave8 жыл бұрын
+Stage Right Theatricals Thank you so much for finding this. I've known the title of Adios for quite awhile but had no idea who recorded it. I did a google search of your info and found a youtube copy of it, so I was able to download it. That completes my collection of the actual recordings that Kennywood uses in its closing songs. I had actually given up hope of ever getting this version. So thanks for your work in finding it.

The second song is Adios by Enric Madriguera, but I don't know what orchestra or vocal group to credit it to. I'd have to compare versions extensively.
