Yes Kensei's bankai is one of the most underrated ones, but he's also one of the most underrated Bleach characters a Vizard and the new Soul Society captain with Shinji and Hyori's a lietunenant, but can't wait to see her become a captain too. Kensei was a real bad ass in a battle between of Super Star Quincy and seeing them in the action in TYBW Cour 3 was insane and nostalgic they're a real miracle and I hope to see every of them in Bleach Rebirth of Souls!

Honestly yeah, his Bankai and just overall Zanpaktou's ability is heavily underrated. I mean c'mon, slashes and punches that explode on impact? That's gotta be destructive af. Just think about it, in Shikai, imagine if he can release wind version of Getsuga Tenshou and it explodes on command or on impact with the enemy, and there could be varieties to it as well, like since maybe it's wind, what if he could create tornado winds trapping the enemy and it explode, and if he could create multiple of those? That could be destructive af. And in his Bankai, I noticed that when he transforms it into a brass knuckle theres like 3 diamond shapes, those 3 could be like a level or his charge gauge if you will, so the higher the level the more damage he inflicts. Also, that thing that arches behind his back could be like wind exhausts that could propel him making his punches faster. And since it's wind type maybe he could control the temperature of wind making it hotter hence making the fire from the explosion even more painful. He should train in Hakuda tbh just so it'll up his Bankai game, imagine he uses Sōkotsu when in Bankai. Pair that with his explosion, yeah, that'd be destructive af. Anyways that's just my headcanon and how I would make it lol ik most of em are probably impossible or just not within the scope of the Bleach verse or the character itself.

I just realized: unless Kensei is linked to his zanpakuto as strongly as Komamura, then his bankai is also permanently damaged from his fight with Mask, since his body armor is part of it and you could see it was visible damaged from where his bone was protruding as well as the weird metal arc on his back.

Probably because it would use too much energy. Ichigo is basically a near-endless font of Spirit Energy, so he can use both no problem, but for anyone else it's a massive drain

I want him to go berserk against Gerard. Mashiro in the last episode wore not only her mask, but the hollow legs as well when she was hollowfied for the first time in Turn Back the Pendulum. As per Hiyori, using Bankai and the hollow mask could risk the hollow powers being out of control. I wanna see Kensei attempt to use both hollow mask and Bankai at the same time but loses control and transforms into his hollow form back in Turn Back the Pendulum + bankai and goes berserk on Gerard. I think that’d be cool.

Kensei should have had better showings and feats. He’s a Hakuda Master with fists that beat Gillians. Add explosions to that and he should be high tier. I could totally imagine him punching away a Gran Rey Cero.

Something about the Vizards people forget is that 1) Hollowfication costs thrm more stamina than Ichigo's does, and 2) They can only Hollowfy once a day. The Vizards showing up Hollowfied to fight Gerald is pretty significant.

Yeah, Kensei's Bankai would be devastating against a lot of opponents. The constant impact damage is great for shattering armor and the fact that he can amp it even further is really good

I always assumed the vizards never used their hollow masks and Bankai in tandem because it was too draining. Ichigo is only character shown to use his Bankai and hollow powers together. Ichigo is a special case.

I think it'd probably use a lot of energy to bankai + mask. Ichigo can do it because he's just straight up built different; remember Unohana thought he was at full strength going back to FKT because his reiatsu was captain-level. Realistically the only characters I think could use a mask and bankai at once and not be completely spent are the absolute freaks of nature like Aizen, Ichibe, Kenpachi, and Yamamoto

I don't think I have ever seen anyone other than Ichigo to use their hollow mask and bankai at the same time. Is it just possible that for normal shinigamis it is an impossible feat? Not counting the fact that Ichigo could only use the hollow mask while in bankai, his hollow form was always beyond his control. I understand it's hollow white/inner hollow that is leaking out as a protection mechanism but the Vizards seem familiar enough with the concept of taming their hollow powers. So I would have to think they had gone through the trials and errors of training/understanding their new strength.

As far as Kensei’s whole military motif goes you actually missed something that’s also a pretty big point to his military design. You missed the fact that his released Zanpakuto is actually a Bayonet. A bayonet is the knife that service members put on the end of their rifles in combat. His Zanpakuto is literally a military knife!

Not entirely sure it was nerfed. Both he and rose missed a key bit against mask, that it wasn't just him but James they also had to take out. He still ripped mask up and I do think a victory was possible for either of them if hisagi woke up earlier or they knew beforehand what to do. Think grand fisher and how both the body and lure need to be taken out, but the lure is a combat form and the body is a support form. Fisher got away and mask beat people stronger than him.

Even though I love Kensei's design and personality that resemble a sergeant, I would say he is way below Shinji and Rose in terms of power. The only aspect that Kensei superior is brute strength. Moreover, Tekken Tachikaze is so difficult to use. Imagine the user of this Bankai has to master Hakuda and gets into contact with his enemy in order to activate the true nature of this Bankai via punches. The only shown Bankai that I think could be defeated by Tekken Tachikaze is Ikkaku's Ryumon Houzukimaru. Can't imagine Tekken Tachikaze can defeat Komamura's Kokujo Tengen Myo'o or even Renji's Hihio Zabimaru.

Also there is just the fact that tenken is extremely fragile and slow so it doesn't really provide much benefit to fighting someone like kensei so even if it would take multiple hits kensei would still have the advantage there

I always thought Yoruichi would have a similiar zanpactou to Kensei until Kubo said some shit like Yoruichi is somehow stronger without her zanpactou or something. I think that Vizards don't use bankai while hollowfied because it''ll zap their stamina to zero since they already only go for their hollow mask for 3-5 minutes at a time. Ichigo is the exception since his Soul reaper and hollow powers are basically the same pool of power

Well the yoruichi line comes from cfyow novel so her saying that technically doesn't come directly from kubo and is just a view yoruichi herself holds. She says she is stronger with shunko then with bankai so it seems like whatever her shikai and bankai is she can't use shunko with it so maybe if it's something like this it would get shredded when she activated shunko or make her shunko damage herself

@mathanon217 possible, although it might just be the case, her Shikai or Bankai ability is just incompatible with her Shunko. Like Soi fon had an incomplete shunko, but I think she still had her shikai activated, but it didn't cause any problems. Yoruichi's sword could be like Momo's or Rangiku's, where it has some ability that doesn't augment her shunko or hakuda skills

Not the only wind type, i believe. In the Ryoka invasion arc, didn't and I had to look up how to spell his name, but didnt Jirobo Ikkanzaka have a wind type turning into projectile weapons.
