I used to use mc-11+sigma 18-35 f1.8 on sony a6500 back the day. that combo is heavier than this 28-45. But again I really wish it either 28-50mm or 24-45mm. Just a bit too short of zoom range.

Is this lens stepless aperture if you do shutter priority video mode (SS+ISO Locked, Camera Selects Aperture)? IE If you pan from dark to bright, does the aperture transition smoothly or can you see each change in aperture as it steps? Could you check with the aperture clicked vs declicked? I want to buy this lens but can't find this info anywhere, I know all Panasonic lenses do smooth aperture transitions in Shutter Priority video mode but haven't found info on the Sigma 28-45

I have both, and while I love the 28-45mm, the background blur at 70mm with the 24-70 ii is unreal. Even though it’s still 2.8, I love the image on it.

As Sigma is a part of the L Mount Alliance, Sigma is considered first party. Not third party. All L Mount alliance members are considered first party.

That made no sense lol Sigma still borrows the AF schematics from Panasonic to make their AF work for that mount. They are, and forever will be 3rd party to every brand except their own camera (FP).

I will not go into the history but after a short time Leica renamed the mount to L Mount and Leica, Panasonic, and Sigma later formed the L Mount alliance. Sigma does not “borrow” the AF schematics. As a member they all share the same AF protocols. The same goes for Samyang since they are now a new member of the L Mount Alliance. They are considered by themselves, Lumix and Panasonic as first party manufacturers of L Mount lenses and cameras.

Kensei or anyone, i’m trying to start color grading in davinci resolve, but i can’t seem to import my 10bit 422 clips into davinci, it’ll only import the audio and not the clip, i understand the studio version can run 10 bit 422 videos, but are you telling me everyone bought the studio version? Is there any other way to color grade my 10bit videos?

Free only does up to 10 bit 420 but not 422. I had the exact same problem as you. So either shoot pro res externally, transcode h.265 MOV to pro res, or buy the studio version!

I don’t understand this “almost prime” hype. This lens has awful barrell and pincushion distortion, which makes it not great in video, since Sony cameras don’t support correction for third-party lenses. I know that in photo it can be fixed in post, but.. why the “almost prime” hype? It’s stupid and I regret my investment. 24-70 2.8 or even 24-105 2.8 might have been a better choice for me..

​@@KenseiAkatsu its looks soft and the shadow detail in non existent . Color looks dreamy.(in a bad kinda way) It could be your editing style or something. there isnt any contrast in your shots whether it be vlog footage or test footage. It looks like a instagram filter applied to it.
