Kenshi: Ally with (almost) anyone

This is a little trick you can use to Ally pretty much any faction in Kenshi
(Note the faction needs a human/oid component in order for this to work)

Yo just a heads up: you can't do that with the holy nation because they don't sell slaves, so the slave traders are your only option, you don't really need to be in perfect terms with the UC, just with the traders guild and the slave traders. Also you can technically force the purchase of animals too, but first you have to do the "undying animal" glicth, by opening their inventory and removing their meat/skin in the same moment they get back up, they will be kept alive and you can then put they inside a cage in a slave shop, they will be enslaved and then you can purchase the animal for a 4 relation bonus with their faction.

You can improve relationship with the Holy nation using a animal with a bounty tho. Look for a raptor that has a crop theft bounty of 500 and turn him in to the inquisitor or the holy phoenix. He will take him and drop him outside of the building which you can pick it up again and repeat. edit: also works if they died

This is one of the things i miss in Kenshi: ways to increase relations and ally EVERYONE! Be able to ally only major factions and not bandits, its like the game is unfinished. The Reavers for example, if you sneak until reach Valamon and speak with him he welcomes you to joining the Reavers, but actually there is no (official) way to do that, its just the dialog and no more.

Stealing robotic limbs and skeleton repair kits and selling them is EXTREMELY lucrative. In the way station in the Border zone, if your stealth is ok, at night you can stand right in the corner of the robotics shop and clean out the stock and sell to the mechanic next door. The mechanic buys stolen goods so there is no risk when selling. I use a mod that gives shops much more stock so i have much more to steal and make upwards of 200k each night. With vanilla shop loot it’s probably 1/4 of that? Just get a character up to over 90% stealing chance stealing other things that won’t get you killed (or just save scum) and you’ll be set for cash forever without abusing save editing.

Found another interesting thing with starving bandits and getting them to ally with you. If you get a chance to talk to a starving bandit and you have the option to give them dried meat, it will raise your relationship with them for a certain amount and you will receive the dry meat back… And also have an extra dry meat for each time you talk to them and do this. After talking to them about X amount of times I was their best friend and was able to feed my bone dogs for months in game.

not all starving bandit spawn are neutral to neutral faction... you can check on fcs there like aggresive starving bandit... that little shit always ruined my hardwork to ally with them.

Yeah, you usually have an orange peach bubble giving you "stand off" dialog options. If you talk them down they leave. If you see them and book it without talking, or take too long to attempt to talk, they attack you.

Squin has a bug where they never release their prisoners, and turning in the Dust King repeatedly when all of their jail cells were full up gave +rep every time, they only gave me the bounty once but the rep was just a matter of a dialogue cycle

Be careful if you do not wish to ally the traders guild and slave traders though, as you gain positive relation for purchasing slaves. So every now and again you may need to do a little bit of assaulting some wandering slavetrader caravans.

This didn't work for me. I accidentally agro'd Bo's faction, and tried this when she got downed. When I bought her back all she did was go hostile and said I did this too her and then she fled into the desert in the slave digs :( Alternatively, when I played he unconscious body down, but didn't sell her in the shop, the owner snatched her up and THEN when I purchased her she thanked me for saving here. I didn't check if that repaired faction status, tho.

Im fairly certain everyone whos played this game for a while considers this trick as "the norm". The more interesting question (and a video about) would be... ...who can we recruit using this trick? Specifically, can we recruit pink ants (southern hivers)? Or... maybe one of the skin bandits? Or cannibals? Who will DEFINITELY not join us after being tossed inside a slaver shop?

Anything that has the recruitable package attached to it and is correctly understated (IIRC overall combat stats lower than 75 or something like that) has a chance to join you. Southern Hivers can be allied and joined, anyone that has a humanoid figure and a faction diplomacy bar can also be joined and recruited as long as those above conditions are met. I'd definitely check wiki though cause it's been a while since I bothered pushing recruitments/testing stuff in this game for fun. Now I just kinda chill and play.

@@s0u7th13f You know, i am most interested in recruiting cannibals. The reason? Just one... their immunity to acid. So i would have a bunch of characters that both arent stupidly overpowered in most circumstances (skeletons) or stupidly underpowered (ants, in particular workers and princes, due to their low overall health), while retaining the ability to wear a full set of armor, helmets, boots and shirts without throwing a fit. Cannibals fit the bill. I could even plonk a base in the deadlands and i wouldnt have to bother with the stupid coats and cowls all day. Weather can be a real bitch in this game... The wiki is silent on the matter. As are numerous posts that almost like they try to evade the question and point to mods instead. I dont need more mods. Just knowledge.

@@LiezAllLiez If the wiki has no description of wether cannibals can be recruited I knwo this much. Scrawny cannibals have stats roughly 8-12? Cannibals have stats roughly 16-22? Something like that right? which means their total stat combination of those 2 will never exceed a stat total of 75 (as emasured by the game) so statwise they are recruitable. Now all we'd have to check is if they have a dialogue package, you can check that in the FCS if the wiki doesn't have the information, but it could honestly go either way for them.

@@s0u7th13f Well, the best way to learn is to just throw things at the wall and see what sticks. I will have my away team capture a bunch and dump them on the slaver shops floor. Doing stupid shit is how i found out you can tie up a random fogman to their own pole to bait their princes in - 6k per head! Ooooh... the money! Ive made 42k on one trip like that in under 2 in-game hours (7 heads). Almost as good as raiding beak thing nests, except the eggs dont respawn, while fogmen are infinite.

@@s0u7th13f Mmm... looks like it aint possible. Ive dumped six cannibals in the slave shop. Paid to release all of them, and they all just scurried home ("retreating fast"). Its absolutely possible to ally them this way, but not recruit them. This result was even worse than my attempt at recruiting pink ants - at least there, some of the guys turned green and followed me for a bit before taking off. *shrugs* Oh well... back to the drawing board...

@@s0u7th13f nope, I sold him to the slave camp just to the north... he was never in a cage, and never up for sale.. Either way, I've been using the dexterity training on robots. So I can solo beak things anyway lol. Real challenge I'm prepping for is the easter egg speedrun challenge! Did you see it? Apparently the leader boards are trolls.. but, would make an interesting kenshi vid if you are interested. Rules are, get 3 diffirent eggs and sell them. (I'm assuming break, leviathan, and fish man) Party must always be together, no mods. Quickest time

I noticed that, when doing this with 1 person, after some time they become part of your faction and if you dismiss them, they become part of the tech hunters. Not sure how to avoid this

Stockholm syndrome kicking in. On a serious note, it's just chance based, usually if you're the one enslaving someone they will never join you, but Kenshi is bug heaven and at this point bugs are features that just make the game better. Any person dismissed from your party will join Tech Hunters by default, that, if it helps, is not a bug LUL

Is there a limit of relation increasing via healing? I did like a 5 relation with farmers just healing them , and heard about allying holy nation via healing paladins at the gates (this second one might be done in legacy versions)

I believe the limit is around 10 relation gain from healing people? I know notable leaders/diplomats will make that go up much faster, but IIRC there is a cap of 10 sadly.

Try capturing the escaped servants with bounty and give to the city guard/paladin, and dont ask for money, just choose the option with the "i'm a good guy doind the good for okran, something like that" and you will get more rep than the 2+ relations. If you ask for the money, if i'm not wrong, you dont get rep

@@LuizGustavo-ib6sb You can actually double dip that, turn him in to the Paladin via saying it's all in service of Okran, and then immediately run away and place them in a cage, you get the +relations bonus and the money that way!

haha I've always gone and with intent to ko the no-face character but since i usually train my people with heavy weapons and try and get their skills up high i always seem to kill him the only time i've just out right knock him out is with assassination skill and usually the person i send out is usually high in stealth and every other stat they take everything out pretty easy plus by that time I've set up near the great white gorillo training my new guys/gals defense up and toughness usually i end up fighting leviathans and taking the pearls

Leviathan Hunting can be so fun! if you're trying to take someone alive, have a mercenary club with you, I too often just punch people so hard they instantly die, and then the regret sets in hahahah.

hi there . i had a question for you that i was unable to find any answer to . in my first playthrough of almost vanilla kenshi (( i only had the mod that let's you pass the Recruitment count )) i was able to recruit berserkers by saving them from cannibal cages (( i did this for a long time and was only able to recruit two of them , most of them just ran away )) . i did it again in my next playthrough and managed to recruit one berserker . now my question is that i have never seen people talk about this being possible in vanilla kenshi , is it possible to do the same thing with other hostile factions such as fogmen / fishmen / thralls / southern hivers / second empire robots ?

It's possible with almost any faction, though I believe some are purely exempt. Non intelligent races seem to simply be un-recruitable (at least that was my finding back when i still played) If the Race/Faction has some intelligence and awareness they can be recruited this way. So Southern hive is possible, Fogmen for example, are not. Wether it's because they technically aren't aware enough, don't have a faction bar reputation bar, or some other reason I couldn't tell ya. Definitely know Souther Hive is possible though, done that one many times in my hiver playthroughs.

@@TheBigRaisiAnything that enslaves the target for you should work, EX: Fogmen, UC Slavers, HN etc. It is unfortunatly a gamble on whether they'll join you or not, also if you were the reason they ended up there then they will NEVER join you. Not sure if rescues from a peeler count, but I imagine that would also count.

Is there a way in this game to force recruit people. I want to get more skeletons on my team but they are just impossible to find in a recruitable way. I already have the “spoiler number” of guaranteed recruitable skeletons and I don’t know how to get more without mods

Honestly not really, other than Importing repeatedly and hiring people from the swamp hoping for a Skeleton (or just spreading your people across the world like UC/Swamp/BD etc. Otherwise you could use the recruit prisoners mod to force recruitment, or just plop a bunch of unarmed skellies infront of slavers to then free them and hopefully have them join you, but that's tough to do as well.

There is actually a way using this exploit. Go to Wend (path above the river near rebirth). Random skeletons escaping the holy nation apear there often. Assassinate, "DO NOT SELL" to slavers, just drop them in front of slave shop. They do not join you if you're the one that sold them to slavery. You only get a 40% chance of joining you if they have a honorable personality. Traitorous is 0% chance. I'm not too sure about the the other personality types, but they are lower join chance than honorable.

Yeah, should be able too, they have several humanoid components attached to them so aslong as you pummel one of those and use this you should be able to get them to 100 relations with your faction.
