I love the use of the narrator in this series. Like, it sloooowly fades away as the series continues and Lean Beane gets closer to Espher, but in the moment of Espher's defeat -- the moment where he's broken on the ground, alone in the world, hated by all, the moment where he's closest to how Lean Beane started this whole mess -- the narrator reasserts himself for a single line. Absolute cinema.

Started with this episode. It left me so hungry for answers and context that I watched the full tragedy of leane beane and Espher. It's easily the best Kenshi content to ever grace KZbin, and that is saying a lot. Actually builds a narrative around the hardest start and makes leane beane's obsession of becoming the strongest seem like a Shakespeare tragedy, instead of the usual murder hobo gameplay video (although I was surprised to learn it started as murder hobo let's play content) The tragedy was so great to watch. Loved the music choices and obviously the narratives you masterfully crafted. Thanks, this series means a lot to me now.

You know, I think those series are the only example of what Kenshi can provide in the realm of storytelling. There are a lot of playthroughs, good and not so much, but this? This is unique. Nobody gives this much effort to tell their story.

thanks to you and this masterpiece of a series you’ve created, i now make it a point to rescue and recruit espher in every kenshi playthrough. beyond a masterfully done narrative, i think what you’ve done so well throughout the entire series was using environmental storytelling to really bring the stories to another level. the nighttime conversations by the bonfire, the final shot in the original series of a desolate, ash-covered wasteland awash with toxic snow…it’s insane to me that it took more than a decade for someone to come along, and use the amazingly versatile arsenal that kenshi gives us to write a story that truly captures the spirit of the game - no one gets a happy ending, and the desolate world is the living (dead) testament to that. you’ve inspired me to eschew my usual, speedrun-y and exploit-y “kill HN kill UC shek based hahah” style of play to really try and craft backstories for my characters with even a modicum of effort that you’ve put into espher and lean bean. thank you, both for crafting a beautifully tragic shakespearean tale of the hollowness of revenge, and for renewing my love for a video game that keeps me going in my own darkest hours. sorry for the yap sesh i’m gonna go train my guys’ turret skill on leviathans now lmao

I watched the wall hive video and decided to check more of yout stuff out, and just... holy shit. This is amazing dude, the storytelling, the edigint, camera work, it's all so damm good, now I HAVE to watch the bedrock bottom series just to understand this properly, burt even without that context, this was pure art. This is beautiful. I finish the series, "awww espher doesnt get a happy ending" and then i watch this and get terminal depression. This is so well made though please make more. Even a whole new story and characters would be great with how well you can write. Of course i would like a part 3 where espher finds happiness but guess thats gonna be slim since its kenshi we talking bout.

@@MartyrDumb That sounds sick. If your going to try and do something bigger its going to take time but as long as u upload stuff on the side i think it would be possible. You could also make a patreon or something similar to support a bigger endeavor like that. If you do i would def be down to back it. A little late to the party on this one. I put it off because I didn't want the series to be over. My heart breaks for Espher, but I guess in the end, he got what he wanted. An escape from the death prison of his own creation. Legit had me tearing up there. Thank you for this. Can't wait to see what else you have planned.
