Another benefit of the Skyliner is that, by purchasing on Klook, you don't need to book the exact day and hour for your travel. It just needs to be within 90 days of the purchase. If you don't know how long it will take to leave the immigration, for example, it is a peace of mind.

Thanks for the video! The limousine bus was a very handy service for us and I agree that it is great for first time travellers who don't want/don't have the energy to figure out the public transport system. The bus basically took us to a block away from our hotel so all we needed to do was a short walk. No fuss, great service, and a relaxing ride.

Thanks for the excellent updates! For me, the airport limosine bus was always the best because I would be coming in from SFO and transferring to a domestic flight to visit my friends and family in Okinawa. In 1988 to around 2012, they had very few domestic flight connections at NRT. Now with more LCC's around like Peach and Jetstar Japan, there are more flights to domestic locations around Japan from Narita. It's better of you can to fly into Haneda, you are close to downtown. Last April, I took a cab from Tokyo Station to Haneda airport, cost was 8,500 yen. The train is cheaper at 700 yen and takes around 30-37 minutes.

There's also the Green Car on the regular train operated by JR. It costs ¥2600 to tokyo. If you have an IC card you can tap at the gate and then pay the attendant when you get onboard. It's slower than the Narita Express but with similar amenities. It is first come first serve so some may consider this a pro or a con, tho you should likely get a seat as Narita airport is first (or second) stop

Currently in Tokyo and every single day we implement several of your on-point tips. Our 1st trip to Japan has been so smooth -mostly thanks to your informative videos. Now we need your expert opinion. Our hotel is in Akihabara, Tokyo and our family of 4 will fly back home (Air Canada) on 8/13/24 via Narita airport, Terminal 1. 1. Which luggage delivery company should we use to pick up our luggage and take it to the airport? Yamato, Airporter or other? 2. Which public or private transport should we use to get to NRT airport? Our flight departs at 17:45. We may prefer convenience over economy. 3. Finally, what time do you recommend we arrive at NRT on our travel day? [Our family members do not have mobility issues, so we don’t need extra time]. As always - thank you!
@KenshoQuest4 ай бұрын
Aloha, If you want convenience then taking private transport would be the easiest way. Then you would not need to worry about luggage delivery. Klook has the best deals that we have seen as they have a lot of options. Just look for a vehicle like a Toyota Alphard or Vellfire for the most comfortable ride. geni.us/tokyoprivatetransfer Or taking the airport limousine is also a nice option if you can get one near your accommodation in Akihabara and again, you won't need to worry about luggage shipping. geni.us/airportlimousinebus We recommend leaving no later than 12:00 PM which is a good time as there will be less traffic and you should arrive at Narita within an hour, giving you extra buffer time. We hope you are enjoying your last few days in Japan!

Hi, first you might want to watch this video then calculate to see if the Whole JR Pass will be worth it for you. In particular, you might be able to make the 7 day Whole JR Pass work for you if you can get to all the far areas within this time: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZbNnqGmmKt5gMk Or the Hokuriku Arch Pass: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJClnYl8Ys2Srs0 Otherwise, purchasing individual shinkansen tickets is a good option on Klook and they very recently made it easier to purchase and redeem your tickets.

@KenshoQuest13 күн бұрын
Hi, I'm glad it's informative! Since there is no shinkansen to Gotemba you are going to have to take multiple trains for the fastest route. Choosing a train will depend on when you actually leave NRT. I have a couple of suggestions. 1) Take the Keisei Skyliner to Keisei Ueno station but then you will need to take a short walk to the JR Ueno Station. I recommend Ueno over Tokyo Station because it is much less overwhelming. From Ueno you will find different trains heading to Gotemba but you might need to make a transfer depending on when you leave. 2) A longer but way to avoid a possible extra transfer is to take the N'eX to Shinjuku, then take a bus direct to Gotemba. Once you arrive you might need a taxi. It will be around 10PM. Good luck!

The one thing I don't like about the limo bus is they limit each person a maximum of two pieces of checked luggage. I often times travel with three + my backpack + my camera case. I even offered to pay for a third piece of checked luggage and they still said no even when the bus is not full. Because of this, the bus is not an option for me. @redfish3374 ай бұрын
For businessmen, the shinkansen and domestic flights are basically direct competitors for Tokyo to Osaka. One of the biggest advantages of the shinkansen is it's city center to (almost) city center and it avoids all the airport hassle. So... when you're already starting from Narita the balance is heavily in favor of just taking a domestic flight over to Osaka.
@KenshoQuest4 ай бұрын
We always opt for the bullet train between Tokyo and Kyoto. It gets you directly there, versus flying into Osaka and needing to take transportation from the airport to Kyoto. But really, we would just fly directly into Osaka to start our trip, rather than flying into Narita, if that's an option. 🌸 Heidi

@redfish3374 ай бұрын
Is the JR pass even still sensible for you after the price hike? Why not fly Narita to Osaka and buy any other shinkansen a la carte? The itinerary as given doesn't seem impossible. But you're basically relying on everything working properly with no congestion. And you knowing exactly what you're doing. Last train is ~20:04 assuming you don't have to take additional trains on the Osaka side. And this assumes you take the skyliner and waste your JR pass- if you're taking Narita express you need to be on the train 10 minutes earlier. (make sure to look up the exact schedule yourself) Again, not to say it's impossible- just that it's relying on things outside of your control to all work in order.

Hi, the last Tokaido Shinkansen bound for Shin-Osaka Station departs Tokyo Station around ~10 PM. The Narita Express arrives underground you will need to come up to the street level to enter the shinkansen gates. Look for Tokaido Shinkansen or ask an attendant. You should be fine unless it is super crazy at Narita, which in sometimes can be.

Can I use the Suica card to pay for the Narita Express train ride to Tokyo Station?
@KenshoQuest3 ай бұрын
Hi, only for the base fare portion, you will still need to buy the express ticket for your reservation. Therefore, we recommend just buying the the whole narita express ticket and not using your Suica IC card at all.

Thanks for the overview. I'm planning to use the Keisei Narita Skyaccess or Keisei Line in the early evening because it stops at Kuramae station nearby my hotel. The Skyliner would require to change the train at some point, something I want to avoid after a 14 hour flight. Is there something to know about the tickets, or can I just go to a ticket machine and enter "kuramae station" to get an appropriate ticket?
@KenshoQuest4 ай бұрын
Hi, sounds like you did your research ;) Yes, you can just purchase from the ticket machine or if the office isn't busy, you can purchase there as well.

My hotel is walking distance from Ryogoku station. What is the best option? I have seen there is a possibility taking the Keisei and then Oedo line but I’d rather not transfer
@redfish3374 ай бұрын
Go Asakusabashi side instead and walk from there if you don't really want to transfer. Maybe 1000 meter (0.6 mile) walk depending on where your hotel is exactly since you have to go a little south to get to a bridge. Asakusabashi is Asakusa line so some of the Keisei lines just go straight through to Asakusabashi directly. Also, just FYI... Oedo Line is one of the newer lines and is a circle line which therefore necessarily crosses a lot of lines perpendicularly... in other words, it's below most other lines. I don't know about Ryogoku station in particular but you should generally expect to be in the bowels of the earth when using Oedo Line and need to account for a bunch of extra time to take a bunch of escalators (or use an elevator).
@redfish3374 ай бұрын
BTW, best is a matter of opinion. There will always be give and take. For the convenience of getting dumped off within about 1000 meters of your hotel with no transfers you would be taking about 30 minutes longer than some of the faster options (and keeping ~$10-20 more in your pocket) I'm just telling you what I'd do. Edit: (also, it depends on what "walking distance from Ryogoku station" means... where you are EXACTLY will determine what stations are actually worth considering... if it's more like 3000 meters to Asakusabashi for you then Oedo and Sobu line will be looking a lot better despite the transfers)

Did Limo bus go to Shinagawa JR train station? (I will need to take JRTrain to Osaka which by watching your video thinking LCB might be better option rather than taking NEX) sorry for dumb question, Im going to Japan for first time… but I open for better option
@KenshoQuest2 ай бұрын
Hi, the limousine bus does not go to Shinagawa Station and I do not know of any buses that do. However, they may exist. Since your plan is to get to Shinagawa Station to Osaka I assume you are going to take the Tokaido Shinkansen? If so, please consider Tokyo Station as well since buses do go to Tokyo Station and you can also board the Tokaido Shinkansen bound for Osaka at Tokyo Station.

Hi, you can easily fit three medium size bags on the Keisei. I think in your case the Skyliner is the better option and you can also switch to JR Ueno and get off at Akihabara station or even walk.

I will arrive at Narita at 6:30pm and want to go direct to Hiroshima (without stopping in Tokyo) by Shinkansen. What option would you recommend for budget traveller? Which Shinkansen station in Tokyo should I take? Thank you in advance.
@KenshoQuest4 ай бұрын
Hi, you can take one of the cheaper trains from Narita to Tokyo Station. At Tokyo Station you will board the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen bound for Hiroshima. The shinkansen gates are located on the first floor. Optionally, you can board the shinkansen at Shinagawa Station which is farther out. Note, you can only board the shinkansen bound for Hiroshima from these 2 stations in Tokyo. Also, please know the last shinkansen that is bound for HIroshima so you don't miss it! But you should have plenty of time.

We are staying at Ueno so looks like we are best to use the Keisei Ueno sky liner, we arrive at 7pm (allowing an hour to get out at 8pm) do we need to book ahead or will there be enough at that time for 2 adults and 5 yr old child with luggage? I don’t want to book as who knows what delays we may encounter. Is a 5 yr old free and able to have their own seat? Great content many thanks.

Hi, I think you will be fine to wait unless you are traveling during a Japanese holiday. Your 5-yo will need to purchase a child ticket if you want to ensure they have their own seat. Also, please fill out the forms online to save some time for both immigration and customs.

Really appreciate your videos. We are arriving tom at Narita Terminal 2 (1:00pm). I've filed out the Visit Japan Web forms already and have my QR code. My first question is how long does it take to get through immigration? Our final destination is Nagoya japan and I want to purchase our shinkansen ticket in advance via Smart EX (which i learned from your other video! Thanks). I'm traveling with two small children 4 and 8 years old. So I want to limit the amount of waiting time between Narita - Shinagawa Station - Nagoya. That being said, what would be safe time for me to book the JR Narita Express Train and what would you suggest time I book the Shinagawa to Nagoya (Nozomi) given our arrival, travel time, etc. My idea was to book the JR NEX train at 2:24pm to Shinagawa Station then book the Nozomi 49 to Nagoya 4:37pm.
@KenshoQuest2 ай бұрын
Hi, as long as you arrive on time then your planned schedule should work fine :). but if you have other things to do like pick up pocket Wifi or ship luggage it can add a lot to your time depending on how busy it is that time of day. It does take about 1 hr. to clear immigration and customs, especially with young kids so keep this in mind. Also, you mention QR Code, so I just want to be sure that you have one for everyone?

how many passengers can a taxi take? I am travelling with my family
@KenshoQuest4 ай бұрын
Hi, 4 for sure if your kids are small or possibly 5. Look for the larger taxis. Or you can ask the information desk to call a larger taxi for you if you can't find one.
@KK-tr8tf4 ай бұрын
We don't have kids and travel with carryons only. However, we anticipate to shop alot while in Japan this October. Would you recommend Airport Bus or Narita Express on our way back to Narita Airport with check-in luggages? Airport Bus is the ideal choice since we will be picked up right in front of our hotel but the possibility of running into traffic and missing our flights scares me. Thank you for your help 🙏
@emikami14 ай бұрын
Ask hotel staff for some suggestions. The best option depends a lot on the location and timeframe. About missing the flight--even Japanese trains are not 100% fail safe. The faster the train, the lower the reliability. The train can literally stop in the middle of a tunnel giving you no options to continue your trip until they get that training running again. With a bus, you typically don't get stuck to the point here you cannot get off the bus, take a taxi to continue your trip. The traffic situation impacting bus I think is overrated as those buses run on expressway (toll road) so the delays caused by traffic is not usually particularly high. The bus is typically faster than Narita Express just because with the train, you need to go deep into basement at Narita and some train station (like Tokyo Station), the platform is very deep as well. My preference when traveling with no more than a backpack and one medium suitcase for train to Narita is Keisei Sky Access (as opposed to Skyliner) if direct service from your hotel area is available--it's only a few hundred yen more than Keisei Main Line but much faster and not nearly as expensive as Skyliner or Narita Express. For bus, the low cost bus from Tokyo Station to Narita Airport run by both Keisei and JR Kanto but you might need to take a subway or train from your airport to Tokyo Station area--it does have free wi-fi and some buses even have a restroom--you're limited to one checked luggage per passenger and one carry on (maybe a backpack)--that's why it is much cheaper than Limousine Bus which can accept 2 checked luggage.

Keisei Skyliner goes from Narita Airport to Ueno. The station before Ueno is Nippori. Some trains stop at Aoto, about 10 stations before Ueno. You can take Skyliner to Ueno or Nippori and transfer to JR Yamanote, getting off at Hamamatsucho or Tamachi. Or you can transfer at Aoto to a different Keisei train that goes on the Keisei Oshiage Line. The Keisei Oshiage Line becomes the TOEI Asakusa Line which will go to Daimon and Mita Stations.
@KenshoQuest4 ай бұрын
HI @mirandaalvareztellez6186, the information provided by @redfish337 are good recommendations. The Skyliner only goes as far at Ueno Station so you would need to make a transfer to JR Yamanote Line. Or you can take the Kesei Sky Access but it is not so frequent, that is the only train that would go directly to Mita Station.

There are multiple transportation options available in Japan with a range of prices. A taxi from Narita into central Tokyo would be expensive (around USD $200). For that distance we take a train or airport limousine bus. We often take a GO taxi for short distances, such as from our hotel to a major train station. We don’t mind the price for shorter distances vs our whole family walking with luggage to the train station.

Hello, Im wondering why many KZbinrs don’t recommend or talk about Keisei Sky Access, especially when going to Asakusa.
@KenshoQuestАй бұрын
Probably more people mention the Keisei Skyliner since it's faster, with fewer stops, and has reserved seats and luggage racks. We bundled Keisei Sky Access in with "other trains". It's slower since it stops at more stations, but it's definitely an option for getting to Asakusa.
